    He's expensive against the cap.

Kicker is a commodity in the NFL today unless you have an all-time great and Folk is good but he's not an all-time great. His $3M salary for 2017 was among the NFL's highest for this year.

Now, there should be some regional shading built into the cap but there isn't. That's one of the real flaws in how the cap works. A local COLA that took into account state and local taxes and housing expenses would be even more "parity-promoting" than the "slap-down-the-free-spenders" that exists today.

Many thanks to Nick Folk for being the main reason we didn't get shut out in many a game over the years. I will wear your jersey with what passes for pride as a Jets fan.

Yes, this is the video I was thinking of. My favorite Nick Folk moment. I knew it was good before the officials called it because you could hear Nick scream "YES" before it even went through the uprights. One of my favorite Jets moments as well.

Game winning kick as time expired in the playoffs against the Colts was epic .What a moment that was. That win is one of the best in Jets history.

Sad to see Folk go but I kinda felt the righting was on the wall. He missed a few PAT's this past season, the bengals game was a disaster. But in all, he also provided us with some amazing memories. Colts game in 2010 was amazing.

Clearing some much needed cap, I see the cutting of Folk and Giacomini as preliminary moves that are pretty much no brainers. The interesting ones are coming soon

Damn all this reminiscing about folk makes me feel like he was the best jet we had for the past seven years lol

    2/23/17 never forget

  15. Folk might be the best kicker this team has ever had. Sad to see him go..but he had an off year & his high salary is no longer justified on a team looking to cut salary & rebuild.

Folk has been a good kicker for the Jets, but he needed to be cut for the salary cap savings.

This game was on my dad's bday. We were watching t/g and I was on the couch begging for the kick to go through. Sure enough, when it did I just hear dad yell out "AHH YEA" and I knew.

Disappointing that we had to part ways with him. Every time he lined up to kick a FG I expected it to be good. I think we are going to miss him this year.

Sucks, Folk was a good kicker. I believe if Folk was the kicker, and not Brien, he definitely makes one of those kicks in Pittsburg. It's easy to take a decent kicker for granted until you have to run through a bunch of shitty ones to get another good one. Same thing with having a solid punter. Nobody wants to pay them, but then you suffer with what this team has been through with punters the last 5 years. I would gladly pay for a good one at this point...

He probably comes back, but at a cheaper price.
