I am so proud of this guy. He is really the jewel of the draft. I've can't recall being so impressed by a rookie O-lineman before. But, watching the way he man-handled 380lb NT Wilfork of the Pats'....I haven't been this proud to be a Jets' fan...in a long, long time. This position...barring injury is set for the next few years. This guy is a future all-pro. :jets:

If the Jets can make the playoffs, why not this year?

Ya, I thought this would be the week where he showed how much of a rookie he is, but no, he surprised me, he really did.

rofl i dont think wilfork is anywhere near 380. but he is a top tier NT.

so yes seiing mangold push him around was amazing.

if mangold stays healthy i think he'll be a perennial pro bowler. but his play is already indicative of that

It said in the paper today even the opponents are really respecting Mangold. How long do we have him signed for?

I'm thinking that the next jersey purchase will be a Mangold.

This guy is a beast and will certainly be a probowler for years to come.

He certainly holds the line equal to if not better than Mawae.

The one thing I haven't noticed is his pulling. Mawae was always known as being one of the best pulling centers in the league- very mobile. Of course I know the play in our first game when he was 30 yards downfield, but haven't paid much attention since. Anyone care to shed some light?

I agree on that Jersey choice. As for his contract details that someone requested; I believe he signed a 5 year 7.4 million dollar deal...

it just looks like a pulling center is not really required in our offense. which is why we use multiple TE's for outside blocking support. and also alot of motion in attempts to get the outside defenders to shift away from playside.

Yah. He's had a great year. I thought it may take him a little while to adjust to the NFL, but he seems to have picked it up quickly. Playing center requires a ton of information to be learned and he seems to have done it.

I am sure that as he gains experience, he will asked to add to be more flexible in his blocking techniques including pulling plays. He must have been asked to do that in college.

Check out thenhighlights on Jets.com form the PAts game. Barlow's TD run in particular where Mangold stands up Wolfolk and Kendall destroys the LB.

Great blocks....Not Jerry Kramer like....but great blocks.

Yeah...Watching the Jets' O-line manhandle the Pats' ( after being dominated for years by them) brought the Grrrrr.... out in me. When on 4th & 1...Chad does the QB keeper & gets a yard & 1/2...Pats' have been successful stopping all opponets 5/5 times. Then on goal line when Barlow runs it up the middle & O-line is blowing Pats' D-line off the ball....That was as good as winning the Superbowl for me. Nothing can compete with beating your arch rival. If Jets' don't win another game this season...They are still winners & will be even better next season.

Just brought an authentic Mangold jersey from the Reebok store. Got the following code from a JI thread and saved 40%. I also brought a couple of hats with the jersey and saved over $100. I believe the code is good for 40% off anything you buy before the 19th. Check it out, and do some early Christmas shopping.

    CODE = RBKNOVFF

That's a great deal, Baamf. Too bad I'm broke as hell (aka still wearing an Abraham #94 ). But I might try and break the bank, I think a $130 authentic jersey might be worth it.......

I saw him in the Senior Bowl workouts and in the combine, and I wanted him then. Great pick by the FO.

  18. Simply put Mangold is playing at a pro bowl level right now. His performance gets better and better every week and it's truthfully out of this world. The sad thing is, Brick has been pretty damn good himself...but he just cant compare to how amazing mangold has truly been.
