What's really annoying to me: Dark Hoodie goes into his lab, turns on the Van de Graff generators, gets the sparks going, then takes a trowel and gouges a chunk of flesh from another AFC east team (Welker, Mevi$, Hogan), connects the flesh to his Frankenstein team with electrodes, and as the sparks crawl up and down and the lightning flashes, Frankenstein goes to another superbowl. Do you ever wonder why Mevi$ only won a superbowl with them? Ron
Yes indeed, Brady has been the beneficiary of the greatest O-line in the NFL for the last 16 years, coupled with a power running game the likes of which the league has never seen. Powerhouse running backs like Antowain Smith, Laurence Maroney, and Ben-Jarvus Green-Ellis have carried his lucky ass to the Super Bowl. During this run (2001-2016). the Patriots have had only two first-team All Pro selections on the OL (Light '07, Mankins '10), and no RBs selected as first-team All Pros. Within the same period, the Jets have had three All-Pros on the OL (Mawae '01, Mangold '09, Mangold '10), and two RB selections (Martin '04, Leon Washington '08).
The name behind the OL - which gets overlooked by a lot - is Dante Scarnecchia. When he is with the Patriots, usually they make a very deep run during playoffs. When he's not there, Brady looks miserable. [Jets should find a good OL coach like that - but I don't know if I would want to work for Bowles if I had that kind of talent, which I don't.] So you can crucify me personally later on? [1] Are you asking me to coach Geno Smith [Fuck me], Bryce Petty and Hackenberg [Fuck me x2]? P.S. This article from Grantland will elucidate my points with elegance. http://grantland.com/features/how-t...helped-maintain-dominance-tom-brady-patriots/
Blount finished 8th in the league this season total rushing yards. The pats didn't have much of a running game in 2015, but had the 5th most lethal passing attack; 2014 pats were 18th in the league running the ball (middle of the pack), 2013 top 10 in the league at running the football, 2012 top 10 in the league at running the football, 2011 20th in the league running the ball 2nd most lethal passing attack, 2010 11th in the league running the football, 2009 12th in the league running the football, 2008 6th in the league running the ball, 2007 13th in the league running the ball, 2006 12th in the league , Such an inept, ineffective running attack anchored by a shit offensive line hahahaha Logan Mankins, Nate Solder, Matt Light, Damien Woody, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Bennett ... Brady was sacked 8x this entire regular season. only 21x in 2014; only 27x in 2012.... He has been the benefactor of a quick release and solid protection. Brady does it all by himself,,, shit protection and shit production in the ground attack hahahahaha
Not disagreeing about Scarnecchia in general, but he was retired in 2014 and 2015, and the Pats won the Super Bowl one year and went to the AFCCG the next. FWIW his replacement seemed like an average coach, which is why I guess he was canned and Scarnecchia came back this year -- and yes, their OL has been markedly better. But clearly Brady and the Patriots could manage pretty well with somebody else.
You just laid out 10 years of middle-of-the-league running games, with probably 5-6 different running backs, 20 different offensive linemen (and only 2 all-pros in the list). Yet the Pats have been at the top of the league for offense every year. Is Brady really a "lucky beneficiary" of that running game? Seriously? Who was the last RB from the Pats you would rather have had on the Jets? How about the OL? Is Nate Solder or Matt Light really that much better than Brick? Mangold is a better center than the Pats have had the last 10 years combined. They won the SB with Ryan Wendle and Connolly as guards, and I think those two guys were on the street the next year or retired or something. Put coaching aside for a minute. On the field, there has been only one constant in the Pats offense over the last 10 years. Not that he isn't an entitled punk, but give him the credit that he deserves (i.e. virtually all of it).
Where did I say, "Brady is a lucky beneficiary of a running game." ? Top 10 running attack is middle of the road? Middle of the pack is an ineffective running attack? Are you telling me the running attack does not help bolster Brady's game? They don't use the running game effectively to keep opposing defenses honest? The complete oline of the pats has been better than the jets since 2011. TE to center they have had a much better protection and overall better offensive line than the Jets. The Jets oline, while improved, has not been good since 2010. Brady is the GOAT. I think you misread what I wrote. What benefits has he received from cheating i don't think we will ever know the true extent. What is cheating and what is competitive advantages seems to be a question today. The pats changed the game of football into almost a level of war with the espionage game. The pats have completely changed the way other teams prepare and play the game today. Every rule has a hole to be exploited. Do I think Brady benefits from other facets of the offense including an effective, mostly top 10 running attack? ..... absolutely.
Br*dy is the lucky beneficiary of the greatest coach of this generation.. That's where the benefit lies. Put Peyton Manning, Rodgers, Brees, or even Ben with the hoodie all these years and you'd see even more Patriots success. Guys like Philip Rivers and Matt Ryan would even be collecting rings.
Other than Randy Moss, they seem to take guys who JAGs elsewhere, and get a lot out of them. When they chuck their big producers, they seem to return to JAG status when they land on other teams. That's why I believe it's the system, or the management philosophy, or whatever label you want to put on their approach. Really sucked for us when Hoodie decided to "resign as the h.c. of the nyj."
Chris Hogan is probably the best free agent we've picked up since Corey Dillon. I'm sure everyone else sort of kicks themselves in the ass for not picking him up....
buffalo was really fuckin stupid with Hogan. They offered him a one year tender for the lowest amount so they didn't even get draft compensation when NE poison-pilled them. He's not the greatest talent in the world or anything but he's a reliable receiver. You hang onto those types of players. Hogan must have been just ecstatic when NE offered him that contract. from underutilized in Buffalo to catching passes from Tom Brady. That's like hitting the lottery for your career.
Chris Hogan wrote an article today to talk about his experience in the AFC Championship and this year in general. Seems like a hard worker and a cool guy. I like that he still gives oodles of respect to his old team (Bills) and the Bills fanbase. So many people start talking trash the moment they leave a team. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/chris-hogan-patriots-super-bowl-li/
