What do I mean? Well look at the history of the AFC East and you'll see that the division largely works in turns as theirs typically only one dominant team in the AFC East. For two brief but glorious years we ruled the AFL, then after the merger the Dolphins were the dominant team of the 70s and 80s in the East. Then as we know the Bills came along and dominated the AFC for a couple years before giving way to the Minutemen to the North for the past decade. So don't worry, it's all going to come around again and we'll get our chance to be great again.
Your name is an example of things that will happen to most of us Jet fans long before we win another Super Bowl
LOL ......eh give him credit for being positive. Hey you never know.......it all revolves around a franchise QB. We need one ......
Here's the plan 2017 dump all salary hogs bottom out 2-14...get a top 2 pick for 2018 draft with $60- $70+m in cap space QBs available in 2018 (that we know of right now) Darnold, Josh Rosen UCLA, Watson (if not drafted in 2017) that might be worth the wait With the possibility of a franchise QB, maybe we can entice a top Offensive-minded HC Bowles gone..Macc could be gone if we have to dump him to get the right guy, but it might depend upon the 2017 draft I waited "endlessly" since Jan 12, 1969...I could be on board for this
I screwed up the reply ....bottom paragraph is me. I also think the franchise QB is probably coming in 2018.....
I like how the other teams had decade plus dominance while the Jets had those 2 AFL seasons. Ugh. How awesome would it be to dominate the AFC East for a decade?
Yup. I've been saying this for weeks now. Suck next year. No band aids and really be horrible and grab the franchise changer in the 2018 draft. Build it from there.
68 AND 69 BUT we also had a few free agency years where it was like winning the Super Bowl also those AFC Championship losses are something to hang our hat on we have 4 of those which is almost as good as the Bills losing 4 Superbowls in a row but not quite ,,,lol
Yes My days of applying for Social Security are right around the corner and 69 was HS for me (sigh) Might as well leave this lifetime with....10 years of Jets Domination???? "Ya Gotta Believe"
Sounds like a plan - season ticket holders would probably disagree lol. They can choose to rebuild the OL with this draft - maybe a slight trade down . Get a LT and then maybe a C in the second or third round. Maybe a CB or an edge rusher somewhere early enough. Get the foundation in place . Then the QB in 2018. By 2019 they can be serious contenders again
Unfortunately for us, this game is largely dependent on qb play, which obviously was such a problem for us this year. This team is going to have a big decision to make whether we go free agency for our next qb or if we find one in the draft. Our OL is not as bad a people think or as Bryce Petty made it look. Ijalana was really bad at LT, though. Receivers are good and Marshall is willing to rework his contract. RB is good. DL is good. Linebackers and secondary could be pretty easily improved with our cap space. This team is really not that far away. Football is not like baseball when sometimes you just need to blow up the roster to rebuild. There is tons of parity and our success next year is largely going to be dependent on the changes that are made for next year.
IMO we can't save all the cap space we gain this offseason to 2018. We need to sign an LT, a TE and a CB at a minimum. The case could be made also for a QB, FS, C and maybe a RB.
