I'd imagine this is the end of Brandon Marshall with the Jets. I can't imagine them keeping him around much longer given a large regression in production (regardless if that is his fault or the shitty quarterbacks).

As a team in a rebuilding mode next season, I see no reason to keep him next year. He'll only be holding the younger guys back along with the fact that his teammates are all sick of his charades, regardless of who is justified.

He can't be completely blamed for never making the playoffs, but it's not a complete coincidence that a player with as many hundred catch seasons as him never makes the playoffs.

A nice large cap savings is another factor.

if this is hte article i read earlier it made calvin pryor look like a tool.

i think that marshall has struggled with the knee he sprained in what week 2? he has not played well this year, but he is a guy i am behind and hope he does well. he may not fit here anymore but i hope he goes on to continue being a successful wr and more importantly a survivor of mental illness and someone who speaks out about it.

He is 33 years old, has had a bunch of drops this season that elite #1 receivers don't drop, and he couldn't shut up in the offseason and during the season that Fitz should be signed and starter. Not only that but with the emergence of Enunwa, I don't think there's any reason to keep him on the team. Have to get rid of the Fitz stench and that includes Marshall and maybe even Decker (though I'm less inclined to do that since he's still younger).

He has I think a 7.5 million cap hit which isn't bad but I would just trade him for a late round pick to a championship contender in the offseason. Further clears the cap, and you rid yourself of player who is obviously incredibly divisive within the locker room.

This thing just keeps getting worse.

Marshall's the kind of guy I'd like to see kept around here, as the WR group is rather solid when he and Decker are lined up opposite each other. Now, with the emergence of Enunwa and some of the other young receivers, we could have had a pretty good group for whoever plays QB next year to throw to. Instead, we're likely back to Decker as the #1, and we all know how that turned out the last time.

Not sure what he did wrong here....why would a "fiery" halftime speech irk teammates?

Not sure if we should keep him or not yet but this one thing doesn't make him look bad to me

We all know Marshall has mental problems. Not too surprising that this season has made him go off the deep end. Not sure what it means for his future, but I think having so many great young WR could make him expendable. Too bad. I think with a good QB he would return to Pro Bowl level.

As long as he takes his nutjob pills, he's got it made.

Huge broadcasting career, a huge bankroll, and never has to own up the the gigantic rap sheet full of female abuse, since his transgressions ceased before the NFL bothered to start acknowledging the players-beating-women issue.

Marshall shouldn't be talking cause Marshall ain't producing either. More finger pointing at one another when they really should be pointing the fingers at themselves. Pryor, Marshall and Richardson been running their mouths all season. I would like to see those 3 go.

    Ouch.

    Marshall is done.

Pryor sucks and Richardson is still young enuff.

    The Jets keep Pryor.

    ...cause that's what they do.

Marshall had a great year last year. Maybe the best in Jet history. Not such a good year this year and his body language most of the year was disturbing. Not doubt the Jets are short on leaders but Marshall style of leadership, yelling and screaming, never works long term. It's time to move on. Decker is coming back and the young guys have tremendous potential. No Marshall, no Mangold, no Revis, no Gilchrist, no Richardson, no Fitzpatrick. Big salaries and little production!

His wife stabbed him with a kitchen knife in 2011.

Now she should stick a fork in him, he's done.

When a player harps on all offseason, and during the season, that a 33 year old journeyman QB should be re-signed even when there is a legitimate backup in Geno, then it creates a divisive environment. Furthermore, if in week 16 you give a speech at half time, some may take it poorly because they view you as the problem to begin with. I think there are a few defensive players that view Fitz, Marshall, and Decker as a problem. Decker and Marshall were incredibly demanding in the offseason and during the season that Fitz be re-signed and also be named starter. That's all fine and dandy but when the wheels came off and Fitz reverted to sucking, it's going to look bad to a lot of people, including defensive players who look at what transpired between Jets and Fitz.

This serves as a lesson to the Front Office and Coaching staff to never let any players dictate your personnel moves. IMO, Decker and Marshall were incredibly influential towards the Fitz move and no player should be able to dictate that stuff.

This is also why I would prefer Marshall sent packing in the offseason. He wants to go down in the ship with Fitz, well this offseason he'll get his wish.

Players yell in locker rooms. That's just what they do. They do it on good teams, and on bad teams. When Tom Brady yells on the sideline, he's a "great leader". When Brandon Marshall yells, he's a "cancer" and a "malcontent".

Me, I think this stuff doesn't ever matter Not on good teams, and not on bad. It's practice, discipline, focus, and commitment that count.

The only difference between good and bad teams? This stuff leaks out of the locker room on bad teams, and not on good ones.

All agreed. But unlike Rex's defenses that had a legitimate complaint about the offense the Bowles defenses sucked and underperformed even the putrid offense. At least this offense could sustain drives and give the defense a rest. They had major red zone problems, but that was as much bad play calls as anything.

Interesting correlation between B Marshalls mental health and his production /team winning

When he is having great games dude is upswing

Bad games he is mostly moody

Team wins ? He's your man

Lose ? Runs his bad mouth

Was on the fence with him..but now ..cya

I'll explain to you how a fiery halftime speech would piss off teammates, without even knowing what he said (which depending on what he did say, could be worse).

    ---

-Marshall is the team captain with a national TV show. His teammates have seen him start to care more and more about that TV show and less and less about the actual games. He's putting less time in, more distractions causing him more drops.
-They saw him start dogging it when the team started looking at different receivers and benching his golden goose Fitzpatrick.
-When the rest of the team celebrates a TD from a young, good guy like Robby Anderson or Bilal Powell, they see Marshall walk off the field quietly because he didn't get the reception.
-They've watched him all year all medicated up on his TV show putting a smile on and pretending there aren't issues with the team and his QB that drove the team into the ground.

Then its Christmas Eve in a rainstorm in a completely lost season. Most of the guys aren't trying anymore and those that are, are pissed off. They get word that Petty is out for the duration and the staff is going to allow Fitzpatrick to finish out the blowout. oh goody for Marshall!!!

and just like clockwork, NOWWW Marshall wants to care about the game instead of his TV show. NOWW he wants to inspire his teammates. NOWW he wants to lead them.
