Unless someone unexpected like McCarthy breaking free or Sean Payton This list of realistic guys with HC experience begins and ends with Todd Haley Brung him home Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Payton is available in a trade..that has been rumored for a month. Of course without a Brees in his back pocket all he will be here is an overpaid HC.
To think we would have had Quinn two years ago if we had been willing to wait one more week..that was everybody's first choice during the search.
Not necessarily. Once Quinn met with Woody, all bets were off. Would you want to work for a clueless doofus like Woody? I wouldn't.
Thanks. I feared I might have confused him with someone else. Still, if he's used to working with QBs and WRs, and has been good with offense, that would be a plus. He's also had a long enough period of time to reflect upon what went wrong in his first HC gig, learn more from working with and observing Schwartz, whoever Miami's HC was and Fisher. I'd still rather have McCarthy if he's available, but he won't be, so Haley would be my second choice, and Linehan my third, followed by Musgrave.
Without a legitimate QB it doesn't matter who the HC is...Ryan at least had a good defense to keep us more or less in the conversation, now it's a joke.
If the Jets have to move on from Todd Bowles at some point they really need to bring in an established coach to be the Sheriff and keep the players focused on winning instead of the "me, me, me" that we've seen in recent years. Seriously, the Jets are a candidate to pay the price and trade for a good coach in his prime to right the ship. All the DC's they've brought in have had momentary impact and then eventually crumbled under the reality that they did not have the credibility to really command the locker room. As soon as the media picked up on that it was all over. Parcells was the exception to the rule because he was an established head coach and nobody doubted who was in control of player personnel when he was here. Nobody slacked off when he was here and even the guys who hinted at resistance were shown the door including some very talented young players.
We have an incredibly shitty situation coupled by the fact that we have a rabid fan base looking to put up billboards at the first sign of trouble. We had a ton of candidates for head coach and primarily general manager deny interviews after Rex was fired. There's likely a reason for that. Obviously there's only 32 jobs in the NFL so the openings are usually only the bottom of the barrel offerings. But if I'm Scott Linehan (with literally the perfect situation in Dallas with young pieces and the best offensive line in the past 20 years all under contract), I maaaaaay just wait another year or two before I'm jumping at an offer with the Jets.
If I'm Linehan, like you said, I'd reap the rewards of the Dallas perfect situation, but the Jets would be near the bottom of my list of destinations. There will be far better jobs than this tard team in a couple of years. Winners don't look for a place to live when the only vacancies are on Skid Row.
