To me, this is poetic justice:

    Cold shoulder heats up Jets

    'Other guy' discovers Pat answer

    BY RICH CIMINI

Not only were the Jets tired of being pushed around by the Patriots, who had captured the seven previous meetings, but some players said they were motivated by Belichick's cold-shoulder treatment of Mangini.

"He wouldn't want me saying this, but, yeah, we wanted it a little extra for Coach," Laveranues Coles said. "The guys were saying Belichick referred to him as 'the other guy' or something like that. Anytime somebody disrespects our coach, of course guys want to step up and play harder for him."

    . . .

Some of Mangini's players got wind of the snub, and they felt it was a petty move by Belichick.

"He's definitely been dissing Coach," Kevan Barlow said. "We showed how we felt about that on the field."

Belly's a real genius. His petty and mean-spirited behavior motivated the Jets to play harder for their coach, and now his own players say that they were outcoached (ESPN is playing clips of Seymour saying this on Sportscenter tonight), after the Jets kicked their asses.

That is huge, if Mangini can get these guys to walk through walls going into the 9th game of the season I'd say he has not only earned their respect but trust as well.... We could win 3 games mor the rest of the season but after what I saw yesterday I know we are headed in the right direction.

Wow, hearing that from Coles especially makes me happy, he has said a few hings that were a bit judgemental of Mangini, I am really happy about the players rallying around their coach

They should have been motivated by the fact that they lost seven straight games to the Pats.

I think Belichick needs to grow up. You can still show class when you lose a game. He's acting like a four year old who lost his red fire truck.

I really liked that article too. Mangini is building a team and they are showing a lot of support for their coach. We could be building a winning franchise here!

That's a great little article, it really shows that the players are buying into Mangini and coming together as a team. It reminds me of my high school team that had a terrible year my junior year, then our HC left and the DC stepped up in his place. We lost the first two games but he knew we had what it took and kept our spirits up, we then went on an eight game winning streak. Once players believe in a coach they will play so much harder, and thats what's happening with our Jets.

Odd thing for players to show so much loyalty to a coach, especially one that treats them like dirt. Where the hell is Buttle at? :breakdance:

I don't know why Belichick is such an ass to Mangini. He was the one that left us after 1 week..

One day. That's always been the knock on Bellichick and why it took him 4 years to get another HC job after Cleveland, he's basically a jerkoff. As it turns out his X and O abilities managed to offset that, but his ability to deal with people has always been very poor.

Well, this should quiet down the people who kept repeating that BB's idiotic treatment of Mnagini was completely irrelevant - apparently not to the people who actually matter.

As I mentioned in the thread about McNair, I wonder if Mawae still thinks that Mangini has lost the Jets players, and that he's glad to be out of here into the great situation at Tennessee.

It is amazing. This guy who is supposedly so smart let his own ego produce bulletin board material the week before a big game, and even better, his veteran leaders on defense questioned their preparation.

Keep hatin' Billy. We'll keep winning.
