Everyone in favor of cutting and moving on from Mangold should take a long hard look at tonight's game as perfect evidence for why he needs to be on the roster next year. I'm not sure who is making the line calls between Petty and Wesley Johnson, but a quarterback getting killed like that would NEVER happen with Mangold in the lineup. He has a high cap number yet we're going to cut enough players between Marshall, Revis, Gilchrist, Giacomini, etc. to the point where we would 100% rather have that $9+ million for Mangold on the roster. Five fucking offensive lineman blocked two defensive tackles leading to what looked to have what could've been a career ending sandwich sack. Mangold needs to be a Jet next year. We need to pray he doesn't retire.
They'll let him go. I hope he goes to a real team next season. Nick Mangold deserves a chance at success.
Would like Mangold back but he's not the only center out there who can make correct line calls Jets fault for not having a reliable backup option or developing them properly...which is no surprise of course
Honestly who cares By the time the Jets are good Mangold will be 80 years old and we will be dead Let him retire or go
We need some sort of veteran leadership on this team and specifically along the god awful offensive line. If we're looking at starting Shell at right tackle next year and a free agent or draftee at left tackle we need some sort of glue to hold them together and gel. Why not a former All-Pro already on the roster that definitely has a couple years left in him.
Only thing that would make me happier than Mangold going out as a Jet for life would be him getting the chance at winning a ring next year with someone else, preferably an NFC team
Mangold is exactly the type of guy that should be brought back on a restructered contract. He should retire a Jet.
What makes you think he wants to leave? Not everyone is a carpet bagging merc like Revis. Mangold can still play, he belongs here.
While I do want Mangold back, there is no guarantee that he will stay healthy next year, Clady situation came back to hurt the jets, Mangold is heading down the same road. Mangold restructuring his contract is the only way I would consider bringing him back. The transition for this team is in place, the younger guys that have been drafted should be ready to start taking over, the problem im seeing is that either they drafted terribly or the CS is not doing a good job of developing these players. Shell is a bum, he is not read to play in the NFL, he may need another year to mature but I don't see him as the answer to the RT position next year. You guys know my feelings on Gaileys scheme, I hate a pass heavy offense and that's where the young guys have the most trouble with their assignments.
