Why did it take Wilkerson to be injured for the jets to play this man at the right position. I get that he's really athletic for his size and we are stacked on the line but play him where he plays his best.

In my opinion he is the best lineman we have and I will go as far to say the best player on the defensive side of the ball. Hell I will go as far to say he is the best player on this team. He certainly has the best motor on this team. The man plays his heart out every. Never gives up on a play.

I remember a couple years back when we played Vikings without Mo and Sheldon racked up 3 sacks with one being a safety.

Hopefully this is a wake up call to the coaching staff to utilize Sheldon the right way.

This is a tough question but do we try to make a fair trade before the trading deadline to ship Wilkerson or Sheldon away for draft picks or David Carr (jk...only in my dreams)? Or is that giving up on the season?

I think the defensive line as a whole plays better when Richardson,Wilkerson, and Williams are not on the field at the same time.

Probably because he didn't play linebacker today is why he looked so good...like you said

What's wrong with playing mostly Leonard Williams- Shledon- Mo in an attacking 3-4?

Maybe in obvious rushing downs use more beef up front but that should work fine

For drafting 15 3-4 DE's in the last 15 first rounds it sure is nice to finally see a couple of them play in their natural positions.

Our two best defensive performances this year occurred with either Sheldon or Wilk out of the lineup. It's like they don't know how to use both of them effectively at the same time.

Beast of a game from Richardson. First time all year. No Wilk in there had Sheldon at this more natural position and he excelled.

This is what I can't really understand. It's not like McClendon is a natural NT run stuffer like Snacks was, all 4 are so similar anyway why wouldn't it hurt to try our 3 first round picks together. Not that McClendon wasn't good also. As others have said Sheldon was great in his natural position. Just rotate the 4 guys up front. Everyone looked better for it.

I really hope they find a way to keep him but I don't see how they will.

    Richardson is the
Jets will have to find a way to trade one of them for a high draft pick. Can't keep everyone with everyone getting paid what they want to. Too much money would be invested in the D-Line.

Tough spot to be in for the Jets.

Talent wise, I think Richardson is the superior player to Wilkerson. In an ideal world, I would see if I could move Wilkerson for a 1st in the offseason. Then go into next year with Richardson and Williams.

However, Richardson does have issues that need to be taken into account. I dont want to trade Wilkerson just for Richardson to go fuck something up.

Definitely a tough spot. With Mo being injured (or dogging it) and not being very effective this season, I can't see his being very attractive to other teams, especially at his price tag. Richardson would have more trade value, except for possibly his off the field behavior, but AFAIK, there haven't been any other incidents this season and he learned his lesson.

If one of them could be traded, probably Williams would have the biggest return, but he should go nowhere. I think Richardson would have the second biggest trade value, but would it be enough to satisfy the Jets and the fanbase?

Never liked Wilkerson, never thought he was a gamer, always got a sacks in low leverage points in the game. Sheldon, if motivated properly and someone to challenge him could make the hall of fame.

To me, that shows that the 3-4 scheme is far more effective with the personnel the Jets have. They need to stop running so much 4-3 and stop using Sheldon as a linebacker. One thing is for certain, they are going to have to trade one of them next off season. If they really want to run 4-3, they will need to bring in more DEs that can rush from the edge. Aside from the Bengals game, it seems the Ravens game was the only one where they featured 3-4 primarily.

Everyone agrees they have to make a trade. They're shooting themselves in foot by playing Sheldon out of position and Mo injured. Both players values are gonna drop.

Richardson trade suggestion below. Doesn't look like having all 3 (Wilkerson, Williams & Richardson) on the field at the same time is working. Not sure what happened last year, but its just not working this year. Except, ironically, --- when 1 of them was out. Best play from our D-line was Cincy game (Richardson was out) and Ravens game (Wilkerson was out).
Inevitably headed towards a trade & we should do it sooner with it looking more like we are out of the playoff picture early. Just not in love with the idea of Richardson going to an AFC team.

If Colts GM Ryan Grigson was okay with sending a first-round pick to the Brown for RB Trent Richardson, he should leap at the chance to finally get a disruptive young lineman like Richardson. Most people think the Colts need offensive line help. That would certainly be an improvement, but getting somebody—anybody—that can actually disrupt the opposing passer and rusher would mean a lot more (Colts are 21st in offense, 31st in defense according to FO). And Richardson is so good and his skills so varied that he could immediately help in both areas. The Jets already signed Muhammad Wilkerson to a big-money contract extension and Leonard Williams is a young stud up front. They have so many areas that need to be addressed, so New York should diversify its payroll and take some money out of the defensive line.

Not to be a jerk, but David Carr retired years ago--I think you mean Derek Carr.
