IMO, there's no reason to play Geno Smith. The season is over and he isn't coming back next year. Playing Geno is just as productive as playing Fitz, it's just wasting time. They're gonna wait for Petty to get a couple weeks of practice or throw Hack in there once they have 7 losses. That's way more useful than starting someone who won't be here next year.
I agree with your last two sentences, but how in the world does Fitz deserve one more shot to redeem himself??? He held the team up for $12 million, when he knows full well that he isn't worth a damn at QB. With the exception of the Buffalo game and part of the Cincy game, he has played like shit this season and has been as big a part of why they have lost as the D. Fuck him. I wouldn't care if someone kneecapped his ass or if he suffers a season and career-ending injury. He deserves it. He's stupid and hasn't learned a damn thing in his 12 years in the NFL.
Woody Johnson needs to hand Bowles a helmet and say "Get the fuck out there behind center Bowles." He will either get crushed or use all his time outs. I approve of either outcome.
If you play Geno you get a look at whether you want to change your mind and resign him. Far better situation than Fitzpatrick who should be packing when the plane lands tonight.
Fitz must have naked pictures of Bowles or something. This is beyond pathetic. I hope the stadium is completely empty Sunday.
Fitz should be cut at this point He is of no use to us and stands in the way of evaluating QBs and takes away practice reps Yes kinda serious....
Geno is only 26. I'd let him start the next 2-3 games. If he shits the bed (which is very possible) then at least you can ease your mind for 100% moving on from him and you still have half of the season to play Petty or Hack.
What if Bowles is smarter then we think and is sticking with Fitz because he's gunning for that #1 pick... (Although Geno would still most likely get us that #1 pick, so...)
If you listen very closely, that distant hum and buzzing you're hearing is the sound of a single engine plane warming up.
lol Woody has tried hard enough, throwing money at the problem and not getting results. He should just purchase the Patriots and force all the players and coaches to play for the Jets
Fitz isn't any more the problem than the coaching staff and half the guys on the team. Give the players and coaches one more chance to put together a good effort against a beatable team and then go to Petty. If Petty were ready to go, I would think differently, but I don't see the point of benching Fitz for Geno.
Exactly....Final chapter on Geno and if he fails then you feel 100% moving on to Petty is the right thing
Bowles probably tossed Geno in to try and get a spark out of Fitz next week, nothing more, nothing less, he's too conservative to do anything else. That or he was assuring himself that the fact he said Fitz wasn't the problem at halftime was true. Geno comes it and looks like Geno (not overly surprising, they never would have rushed to sign Fitz in such a hurry if they didn't know the real answer). Bowles now probably believes the QB is not the problem. Even if it isn't the whole issue (and we know Fitz is only one of many issues) I'd like to see him make some adjustments and prove he can be a head coach. Maybe it'll snap some life into him. The offensive play calling sucks. The team is making Rex Ryan seem like a strict naval commander in comparison in terms of discipline. The defense got beat once again and on the same things over and over. Clock management still sucks. They should start Petty but then again I'd prefer they wait a game if they have to if they can do something with the offensive line so he doesn't get killed.
He's been absolutely horrendous 47 completion % with 0 TDs and 9 INTs in the 4th quarter this season How about if nothing else, it's just holding a QB accountable and giving the backup a chance?? Is that a good enough reason?
I didn't say I'll be chanting that lol. I'm frustrated with Fitz, but I'm just as frustrated at Bowles, Gailey, Revis, Mo, and Woody Johnson.
