I agree that 1st round draft picks (aside from QB) should be ready to start immediately. The thing is even though most 1st round picks do start immediately, they're still rookies and learning on the job, and make mistakes. Lee may prove to be a bad pick eventually, but I'm not ready to bury him yet. He has shown enough instinct, speed and talent and made enough plays that I think he will be worth the pick.

Man I nailed it on this subject, I noticed it a week before anyone. Lee can't cover anyone and is not as fast as advertised.

Agree 100%, but still think you have to play Lee, rookie mistakes or not. You have to hope 1) that he learns from mistakes and 2) he will make up for his mistakes with good plays. If not, then you re-evaluate.

You must be some kind of football soothsayer.
Most people can't make this type of astute analysis in a player's 3rd career start but here you are. In before the crowd, which is nothing new for you I'm sure.
Mind if I PM you for fantasy advice?

Mathieu? I think you mean Buchanan.

And there are a handful of guys who are now playing this undersized MLB position with great success.

It's the way that the NFL is moving and I have no doubt that Darren Lee will not only live up to his draft status but actually exceed it. He has flashed the instincts. He has the tools. Let's maybe give him a chance to get some experience?

Some solid coaching wouldn't hurt either but I don't see that coming here.

I thought Lee actually had pretty good coverage on several of those Graham passes - it's just that sometimes you can't beat a perfect throw or great catch. The other team makes plays too.

Yeah he absolutely was. He was all over Graham. Wilson was dropping dimes and he was making phenomenal catches. Nothing you can do about it. Lee even turned his head to find the ball a couple of times, and it went right over his outstretched arms.

  10. LOL....Sure let's get on the 1 guy outside of the DL w/ any playmaking ability, movement skills & instincts. I'm about as sour on this team as anyone...I just can't fathom anyone being down on Lee. He's been as good as advertised.

Has he gotten swallowed by some O-linemen due to his size? Yes. But that's part of the game & happens to all of these modern undersized LB's.Is he perfect in coverage? No.

"He can't cover". Ok what LB CAN cover? If they could really cover they wouldn't be playing LB, Even successfully defended wheel routes in this league are not achieved by "Plastering".More often its solid positioning in your drop, knowing when to close & playing the football. If Lee COULD "cover" as his pundits like to criticize him for..at his size/speed he'd either be playing safety or possibly even corner which is what he played in High school.

You can't have these stiff downhill stackers anymore. Christ, we had nothing BUT those guys up until this season...everybody bitched how we had no mobility on the second level & how slow the LBs were to react/close/cover. Now we actually have a guy who can & DOES all of those things but you guys wanna bash him for...really...I'm not sure WHAT reason. Seems like the same people who come draft time never want anyone w/ speed & agility...and would rather have a bunch of dinosaurs laboring around the field like we've seen since basically 2000 up until this year.

It's either a case of "the grass is always greener" or we have fellow fans who think we're still playing circa 1995 NFC East ball.

Just go take a look at Jetnation and how they are stroking Lee. It's unbelievable how those nitwits can't even remember when they sold out. The OBJECTIVE take on Lee yesterday is the following:

He showed great speed and kept right up with Graham in coverage. However, he never stopped Graham from catching a single pass. So I ask you, what good is the coverage then? If he cannot prevent the receiver from catching the ball and the TE still makes a mockery of the Jets defense, then there's no spinning it - Verne Troyer SUCKS at covering TE's and it only stands to get much worse when the Jets play the Patsies. This pick is going to go down as one of the worst of the MacCagnan era....

Darron Lee was 20 yrs old when he got drafted. To say he's a horrible player 4 games into his career is absurd.

He gets lost very easily. BUT that's on coaching.. Sorry. Our 1st round draft pick should be coached up a lot better than he is being, right now. It's 4 games, but he's been in no mans land a bunch of times so far... Goes on coaching.

Can someone explain how the fuk Sheldon Richardson dropped back in to coverage and basically made that play and Lee didn't?
    AYFKM?

Lee looked lost when the guy is right in front of him yet Sheldon read and reacted like an OLB there...wow.

I love Sheldon but dude.. he has like 100 lbs. on you!!

    Quite Embarrassing
