With the reports coming out that SD is gonna let Brees hit the open market, we can forget about those nonsensical rumors that Rivers is coming here. He is gonna be the starting QB for SD next year. Get real fellas, if Brees hits FA he will be scooped up by another team in a nano second and Rivers stays in SD. We can forget about Rivers and start focusing on the realistic possibilty that Jay Cutler is the future of the Jets.. All signs point that way...

Brees will not be scooped up immediately.

He has a shoulder concern too, which I would HOPE would keep us from considering us. He had major surgery on his shoulder. Sound familiar?

That is not gonna stop a team like Miami or Dallas from waiting at his doorstep the first chance they get. He doesn't make sense for us but he sure as hell makes sense for a team like Miami..

I bet he's not scooped up right away. He'll have to get to the throwing stage first. He'd be silly to sign before that stage, since he'll take a big hit in value.

He will not be scooped up immediately unless he can throw now.

Thing is, you don't want to throw Cutler to the wolves behind a patch work, inexperienced Oline. So, we need someone else to take the lumps. Brooksie?

I don't think I would want Brees anyway. We don't need another QB with a shoulder problem. Not to mention I don't think he is as good as everyone else thinks he is. He had a great running back. A good tight-end. And receivers that can actually catch the ball (McCariens you suck!)

I wouldn't want our QB of the future in their day one anyway. I want Jay Cutler to ride that pine for a full year. Maybe let him play the last game or two if he shows he can compete in practice.

But here is my three year plan for our QB...

1st year- Let him sit and learn for most of the year.
2nd year- Let him start from day one.
3rd year- Should be ready to put up some decent numbers and be able to compete since it would be our third year in rebuild mode. The team should be better and so should the QB.

Jay Cutler! Clap Clap-Clap Clap Clap!

There is really no point in having your QB sit out the entire first year. Very few teams do that. Either he should start from day 1, or he should start from around midseason. Remember, we're not drafting a fragile QB this time, and we also expect Cutler to be used to some pressure. The Cowboys drafted Aikman a year before they had a good line, and he turned out okay. I think we can do the same.

Don't be so sure. Marty Schotty& SD are in a win-now mode with the players they have. I find it hard to believe they will let Brees go after his success the past two seasons. I think that this talk of Brees & the Chargers not being close to a deal is a smokescreen by Brees' agent to help his client. He wants SD to think they could lose Brees to force them to make a better offer. I bet the deal is done next week.

However, I also like Cutler, so I'd be happy either way.
