That was quick. And now we aren't carrying a FB. I wonder who replaces him. According to Connor Hughes, Braedon Bowman is the favorite. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2016/09/jets_cut_julian_howsare_source_confirms_no_longer.html
It's not easy finding the likes of a Richie Anderson who could catch out of the backfield or a Tony Richardson as a mauling lead blocker. I miss those guys. If only the terminator would've worked out; Rex got up my hopes up with that one.
I don't see the need for a FB. We barely used Howsare in the first 2 games and hardly used Bohanon last season. It was a wasted roster spot.
This. We run a spread offense, often with no backs in the backfield or a receiving threat back there. A fullback is an absolute waste.
Yea, because his name was John Conner but nonetheless Rex fell in love with him (as a FB) due to a big time hit on special teams during a kick return. Not because of a great lead block on offense, not because of a great catch out of the backfield showing solid hands, not because of a strong run up the middle during goal line or short yardage situations; but because of a special teams play. Then hyped him up on Hard Knocks as the next coming of Mike Alstott, Tony Richardson or Lorenzo Neal.
Maybe that kid from last year is still waiting around. I think he was from Fresno State. He had a great highlight reel at least.
Got to be for Brian Stork. Jack of all trades can play C and G, I like it keep adding depth to the oline.
I've always hated the idea of risking injury to one of our most dominant defensive players by using Richardson at FB. He suffers a season ending injury trying to pound the rock and that'll be an unforgivable coaching blunder. I'd really like for Karlos Williams to return to physical form and join the likes of both Forte & Powell in our backfield. He's a big power back with speed and catching ability and an absolute animal within the red zone and short yardage situations.
I felt the same way when I thought Richardson was going to be a long-term contributor on our D-line. A this point I'm pretty certain we'll only have him for this year and maybe next before he ends up on a long term suspension or on another team. With that in mind, I don't think it's much of a risk to have him playing FB 5 or 8 snaps a game.
Enunwa is more of a fullback than Howsare was so it was a wasted roster spot. He'll probably land on the practice squad.
