we have an abundance of talent now with McLendon and the Big Cat. Move Revis to safety and let's get some secondary help!
I'd be surprised if the team trades Richardson, but wouldn't hate the move. I don't think Revis would be a good safety.
I think Mac spent the better part of the offseason trying to do just that....but with Wilkerson. Maybe he'll have better success with Richardson?
Richardsons a liability whos been suspened 5 games in the last two years and has missed opening day twice now because of it.Trade him for what?Unless he has a big year he has little value right now.
I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion--can you elaborate on the proof of your Revis hypothesis?
Who is a top corner right now? You saw Josh Norman last night, you rather have that or Richardson, the fact of the matter is, the NFL is so conducive to offense, that youre best bet on stopping plays is with the defensive line, getting to the QB in under 4 seconds, than a corner blanketing a receiver for more than 4 seconds and getting a coverage sack.
another funny thread. Watch how many of these inane ideas go to pot after a few games with a full Dline
Unless Revis really regresses this year, I don't see them cutting him until after the 2017 season. Skrine and Marcus are okay #2/#3s, but theres still a lot of dead money if we cut Revis after this year plus we'd have to then pay the salary of the new top corner.
They should keep changing their long term strategy to reflect whatever happened in the most recent game played.
Trade him for a draft pick, the point of trading him is to save cap space. That draft pick can then be turned into whatever we need, which right now is a big time WR, TE, or CB. Maybe even an o-lineman.
Nobody is giving up a top corner for Sheldon unless that guy has some off field issues, needs a new contract or is coming off major injuries. Not interested.
agreed. nothing like ( nfl hypocrisy): the afl of the 60s, which the nfl mocked, and now changed the rules to copy it. at this point, with kicker brown returned to the giants, they will have to release one kicker. i would bring in that guy and cut folk if he screws up one more time.
IMO the best FSs are solid tacklers, if not hard hitters, need to be good, if not excel, in coverage, and need to be fast since they are the last line of defense. Revis is excellent in coverage, and is a pretty good tackler, no longer has the speed to be effective as the last line of defense. Could he function as a FS? Yes, but I think we need someone who can excel not just function, and we don't need to pay him $15 million to play FS. Based on what I've read, we're gonna need cap space next season. If we cut him, we save $7,333,333 on the cap.
He doesn't have "speed." He never has been the fastest player, and he's lost much of what speed he had. That's why he's struggling now. Paying him $15 million to be an average or slightly above average FS would be stupid imo, and a HUGE waste of cap space.
