Forte looked very good. I'm sure he'll be Fitz's best friend in the passing game all year. Powell is the same old shifty third down back. That said, they are too alike, and we lack a bruiser to get us those tough yards in short yardage and goal line situations. It cost us today. Ivory gone, ditto Robinson. Where do we turn?
Forte and Powell can actually both get the tough yards. Do they run as angry as Ivory? No, but no running back does. Doesn't mean they can't move the pile (as was evidenced today, Forte lowered his shoulder and picked up yards on multiple runs). Plus I remember multiple times last year on 3rd or 4th and 1 where Ivory was stopped. I don't have the statistics off hand but I'd say he was less than 50% on those types of runs. Sorry, but the only position lower than running back on the list of worries is the defensive line.
Loved it when Jets had Tomlinson. Forte takes this offense up a level. He is very efficient running. Good hands as a receiver. Reliable blocker when he stays home to protect QB.
There's a guy who is out there for the taking who had a great preseason, he is a total bruiser power back. he was cut and stashed on a practice squad by a team we played against this year.
I thought they looked great all around, they can get the tough yards imo. RB is the least of our worries.
I have endzone seats and the people who sit with me agreed.. Forte has amazing vision and patience and reminds me alot of the way Cmart ran... I was so excited to finally see him...had been one of my fav non JETS and always on my Fantasy squads
My biggest concern is running out of shotgun the entire season. The couple of times we ran out of single back we had big gains on the ground. Shotgun works when you have a quarterback and receivers who can spread field. Not a good formation for Fitz and these running backs
