True but Jeffrey would help us going forward way more than Mo can. In a couple years from now, Marshall and Decker will be all but done but the DL will still have Richardson and Williams.

Not exactly. Allen Hurns is a solid number 2 wr, and he just got over 10 million a year. So what would Jeffrey who is a bona fide top 10 wr in the league command?

being that I do think injuries will screw us this year, why does everybody say we have a tough schedule, yea these teams were playoff teams last year, we're just as good as those other teams, for all we know the other teams and fans are seeing us on the schedule and thinking they have a tough schedule cuz of us, we're just as talented

Hey I'm not saying it would be a dumb trade. I would do backflips if they did it because it seems likely that we are going to lose Mo for nothing.

bowles was just quoted yesterday or today regarding MO , he said " you cant always keep your best players" , I still think they're looking for a trade partner for him and are trying really hard to get rid of him regardless of what they are saying through the media, they even said a couple months ago that they view Sheldon as a better player

Seriously? Don't you think that could be overstating things just a mite? One could look at almost any NFL team and there would be a drop off in talent and production if some of their key starters went down with a serious injury.

Undoubtedly, we're precariously thin at certain positions. This is most true at QB and OL, but has the least validity as concerns the DL. The depth on the DL is better than most teams in the NFL.

I must consult my source about this possibility.

5-11 seems like an awfully un-Jetslike result. They've specialized in 3-12 with a win in the season finale recently, doing that in all three 4-12 seasons since the ownership changed. The year they went 6-10 was 6-7 with 3 straight losses at the end. The Jets have done the 3 straight losses at the end of the season thing twice recently, ending both 2011 and 2012 with a losing streak.

So to get to 5-11 it looks like the Jets will have to go 5-8 next year and then lose out at the end. That would be the swing year in changing our 3-12 plus a win into something better.

    Just kidding. :)

I mean we'd be in fine shape across the board on defense. Even in the secondary, if a starter went down, we'd just have to move away from blitzing so much in passing situations and hope that Mauldin/Jenkins/potentially Bishop and the 3 defensive ends can provide a consistent enough pass rush throughout the season to not have to rely on blitzing.

The above is the adjustment Rex couldn't do. Weaker secondaries get torched if you force them into playing man without backing away from the 6-7 man blitzes.

If anyone goes down along the offensive line or Marshall/Decker miss serious time however, we're in some deep shit.

There's no way a team with zero depth at wide receiver (which would make their IR'd top 10 pick receiver the automatic number one) would trade him away for a defensive end. Especially when Cutler put together a pretty good season last year all things considered.

Regardless if they keep him after the season or not, trading Jeffery would really destroy their offense. John Fox and new GM Ryan Pace are slowly building a really good defense out there. They drafted Floyd (even though I'm not a fan of him), have signed Pernell McPhee and Danny Trevathan over the past two years along with a bunch of depth signings this season, and a bunch of mid-round 3-4 defensive lineman.

Of course Wilk would help, but losing Jeffery would probably hurt their offense more than he'd help their defense. Their offense was garbage when he was out and explosive as all hell when he was healthy.

I am going to say 7-9. The first four games will determine what the rest of the season is like. If Fitz is starting, we'll get the same type of game management. Geno with all his faults, who knows who your going to get. This defense might be very tired by the end of the year.

The Jets had a tough schedule last year also until they started playing the actual games.

It's a wins over replacement type of deal. Who is more valuable to their unit? Jeffery is more valuable to their offense than Wilkerson would be to their defense.
