The Jets have a reputation to uphold of 2nd round busts and questionable picks. Connor Cook plays in an NFL type system and was a much better bet for success in the NFL. That said Jets representation at every draft is a national embarrassment.
How the fuck do you draft a QB in the 2nd round that threw > 54% completion his last year in college?
To be fair, the program he was at was in shambles...... When he had Allen Robinson, and O'Brien as coach he was awsome...... We have Deck, and Marshall...... We have Forte at RB...... We have a lot of weapons....... He may suprise some people
He's got prototype size for a QB and when he had decent players around him and a good coach in Bill O'Brien, he looked like he was poised to be the highest touted QB since Luck.
Why are people calling him a low round prospect? I get not liking him but if you follow college football and the draft you would know that he was anointed as the next great QB after his freshman year and was projected as a top pick eventually With that kind of potential ceiling vs his recent disappointment, the 2nd round sounds about right
Hopefully in 3 years Hack is a stud and people bump this thread to make fun of us. Hi future posters.
If they wanted a QB, they should have taken Lynch in round 1 and LB Deion Jones (taken 1 pick after they took that HACK) in round 2. That would have been MUCH better. I'll say it, this is easily the worst 2nd round pick in Jets history! Biggest reach and nobody liked this pick, all the analysts questioned it and the writeup on him is littered with troublesome negatives.
Hey, NY fans hated the Porzingis pick and look how that turned out. But I'm not a fan of this pick. The production in college wasn't there.
Geno, Hackenberg- this franchise is crused with terrible decision makers in the FO regarding QBS.. Geno was 10x beter than Hackenberg.
The worst pick the Jets have made, ever. A QB with undrafted talent in the 2nd round. He's already ruined, already has David Carr disease due to his shitty o-line in college, and has no pocket presence or accuracy. This would have been a waste in round 7, and in round 2 it's legendarily bad. I supported the new front office so far, but if the rumors are true and they have been scouting him for months and actually think he is a legit NFL prospect, then the entire decision making process of this organization is suspect. A truly awful pick, I want Mac and the whole scouting department gone now.
Well I don't love it but I don't completely hate it. If Maccagnan and Bowles/Gailey were willing to possibly hinge the rest of their careers in New York on this kid they must believe he's the real deal.
