I think you'd lose your shirt in that bet. While Lynch is athletic and has great arm strength, his offense at Memphis was worse than Petty's at Baylor. The level of competition was worse, and even at that level, Lynch was considered extremely raw. Lynch is a project with a capital P. I think I also read somewhere that most of his passes were short passes, but I may be confusing him with someone else.

If the NFL ever put out a guide or dictionary of standard terms in use in the NFL, they could use his photo with the definition for a project QB. IMO there is no way on God's green earth that Lynch would ever beat out Geno this year. I get not liking Geno, but come on. Geno knows the offense, is athletic and has a strong arm too. He has a head start on adjusting to the speed of the NFL, the offense, making pre-snap reads of Ds and decision making. Ultimately, I think Lynch has a chance to be a solid, if not quality starter in the NFL, whereas I think Geno will probably be a career backup if he even lasts in the NFL, but for this season, Geno would have all the advantages over Lynch. In fact, I see no way that Lynch would even be given the opportunity.

Mac is fully aware of how Sanchez and Geno were thrown to the wolves. Look at how Petty was treated. Lynch is even rawer and less ready for the NFL. If the Jets were to draft him, he'd definitely sit for a year, and possibly two. I would imagine that either Geno would be handed the starting job or Geno and Petty would battle it out in TC.

I disagree and agree. We did not win any games directly because of Fitz but I will say if geno started the best we would have done is maybe 8 - 8 because geno does not have a high football iq he would have easily lost two games on his own

I agree with this. Even if Geno avoided the pick sixes, big sacks and TOs in general, I think the Jets' record would have been worse. We all know that Fitz is better at making pre-snap reads. He gets the ball out quickly. I think that on a lot of those plays that were successful with Fitz, they'd probably have been unsuccessful or at least less successful with Geno. He'd have made more mistakes with his pre-snap reads, probably have made more mistakes on his decisions, and probably wouldn't have been as accurate as Fitz with his throws. At the very least there would have been more incompletions, more stalled drives, more shanked punts, and less points for the Jets.

I say Fitz, but if not Fitz, then Hoyer. Hoyer would be a $4M a year contract and he would be twice as good as Smith. So start Fitz or Hoyer and draft Sudfield in the 5th round to compete with Petty. Punch Smith and send him on his way out the door.

With the amount of options available - Bradford, Hoyer, Foles, Kaepernick, - Fitz is crazy to think hes ever going to get 12mil a year..

Agreed. All of the above are at least close to comparable in terms of talent & younger.

I believe we have an agreement in principle with Fitz given the lack of chatter or aggressiveness in Fitz's job search. If by chance we don't though, we'd be foolish not to inquire about all of them.

That has to be a record for quickest holdout after signing a contract.

McCown! He's played with Marshall and Forte in Chicago. He comes at $5 mill. True he's old but he's a 1-2 year guy. Same as Fitz.

He is another head hit away from being the main storyline in the sequel to Will Smith's Concussion film.

No need to add anybody as it won't make a difference playoff wise. Might as well stand pat, get more experience for our young players and finally decide where we are in 2017. I'm pretty sure Mac has more than 2 years to produce a winner before his seat gets hot.

thats what idzik thought too... then the fans got angry when we sucked and woody caved because woody is a giant sackless loser.

dont get me wrong, im not an idzik guy, but as long as woody is owner you cant count on losing and job security no matter how good the long term plan

Give Woody and the fans more credit. Idzik's problem wasn't that he lost. It was that he was clearly trying to get Rex fired and his drafting sucked.
