    Q. Have you been able to nail down when you will be able to start throwing again, and have you spoken to Dr. Andrews? Can you give us a better idea of where you are?

Sure. I started throwing March 1st and that was when Dr. Andrews wanted me to start. It was ironic that we actually talked the evening after I talked to you guys and we decided to go ahead and start the program. John Mellody (Jets Head Athletic Trainer) and myself will be in touch with Dr. Andrews on a weekly basis, talking about the progress and noting the progress and things feel really good.

I think that the biggest issue for me is just continuing to get stronger and getting back my total body strength that I had even before my first surgery in 2004 (following the season). It is very important to get all of my strength back, both in my lower body and in my upper body. If I can do that, I think the throwing and the velocity and all of those questions that people have will be answered. Like I said before, time is on my side, and that's what I needed was time.

I have that time, and I want to take advantage of that time and make sure that I don't waste that time, manage the time wisely and do everything I can. My goal is to be a part of every off-season drill and team activity that we have from weight lifting and running all the way to mini-camps and spring practices. I'm well on my way to getting that accomplished.

    That's kind of weird.

But I guess this is good news.

If I remember correctly it's been around the same amount of time as when he started throwing last time.

I'm really curious to see how quickly he progresses. Will the extra time he has over last time mean he'll participate in mini camp and training camp more full time, or will they take it really slow?

He is soft tossing already, which is where he was at the start of training camp last year. So he is 5 months ahead of where he was last year.

I am very happy to see this. They did say he would be ahead of the last surgery at the start of next season, since he went out so early last year and opted for immediate surgery. It's great to see it working out! Come on Penny, prove all of the doubters wrong!

I'm really surprised we have made it through ten posts and not one person has jumped in to dog "old noodle arm"

It's good to know there are still some fans out there that appreciate the type of person and player Penny is. THAT is a leader, and I don't care how soft he throws, you can't easily replace that. Mechanics can be worked on, but leadership, a solid work ethic, and a solid personality are qualities you don't just learn later in life.

There is nothing more I would like to see than Penny making a comeback and shutting everyone up. Im not sure however if that will ever be possible.............

    I agree... its shocking

I think everybody, regardless of their opinion of Chad, would be ecstatic if he produced this year.

I love Chad, he has "it", he says and does all the right things. He is pretty much everythign you want in a QB and nothing you don't (yeah I know arm strength). I am rooting for him 100%. This would be one of the all time greatest comeback stories. He has an extra 5 months this time around and it was a far smaller tear so things are a little more on his side this time. Plu Edwards isn't here to rush him back early either.

Pennington cant throw deep, and now that hes dont the rotator again he wont be throwin long for a very long time. Also last year he was rushed back into training so its not neseccarily a good thing that hes throwing even earlier than that, look where last year got him. btw i love the guy i just wasnt sure about us resigning him as a number 1

Kind of like me having experience chewing on razor blades and washing it all down with Draino. I kid you, of course. :)

"Like I said before, time is on my side, and that's what I needed was time..."
HELLO?! That being said, there's nothing I'd like more than to have us bear witness to the comeback of the century. Good things come in strange packages and when you least expect them.

I hope and pray that Chad can regain what he had when his Number was called that magical year. He has shown alot of heart and passion. But the one thing that is really bothering me sadly is that shoulder. 2nd time with the same surgery in the same throwing shoulder.

Handing off to the RB is not the problem. It's making that big throw in the air to a tall reciever over 40 yds & more is what we hope will happen. You all know that defenses are gunning for his shoulder and do it to him again.

I will hold back my judgement right now, but I pray that he can be the Pennington of old.

Well isn't Shotty Jr. installing the West Coast offense again? If so, Penny can be the same QB he once was. It isn't so necessary to gun the ball downfield. Yes, it would be great if he could throw the occasional 40 yarder, but if the offense clicks on the short passes, who cares? I don't need flashy if it scores TDs!
