While we are at it, let's trade Revis too and we'll have so much cap space for roster filler caliber players!
Did not see that coming. Frees up some cash but now we have a pretty important hole to fill as well. Still, great run by a very good player for us for a long time. If he retired because he didn't feel he could compete at the same level and didn't want to mail it in for a they paycheck then all the more respect to him.
sad to see brick go, he was a great player and leader for us. IMO this shouldnt have any effect on the wilkerson situation
Getting an extra 1st rounder increases the odds of replacing Brick with a stud replacement. Chances are that guy doesnt fall to 20
probably a draft pick at this point. I'm sure on April 9th there aren't going to be too many FA left tackles out there
At least Macc got cap space now. On a serious note this is a sad day, Brick was one of the most consistent Jet players, sucks to see him go.
Well thats my point. Its bad timing. And only happened because they went to him about a pay cut. Yeah its great for the cap space. But leaves a huge hole.
That's not true at all. It's been reported by multiple people that the paycut wasn't the reason for retiring.
Hopefully Jack Conklin from MSU. Free agency. Brent Qvale. I don't see how Brick leaving has anything to do with Mo.
Much appreciation for Brick's Jets tenure. It does put Mac on the spot, and I really hope that he can get one of the top three guys.
Yeah OT now jumps to our number one need and we will probably use one (if not both) of our two first picks on OL . Could also wait to see who gets cut on June 1.
To me it doesnt matter what the team said to the media about this. If Brick was earning 11 mil this season or whatever the pre-possible restructure number was , no way in hell is he walking away from it.
That would be a solid replacement. But he might need to be traded down for. Mac has also expressed a desire to not have to go after any OL help in the 1st round. Wonder if this changes that.
We love Brick because he was great. We wanted him to retire as a Jet. He just did. Nothing wrong with the Jets asking him to take a pay cut based on his performance and team needs. Nothing wrong with him calling it a career. Thanks for 10 great years Brick, and for being a class act.
What does this even mean? That's exactly what he did. It's not like they could just pay him less if he didn't agree. They could cut him, sure, but he could still have gotten a good amount of money from another team. He's still got ability.
