I was hoping to wake up today and it be not just St Patricks day but also FitzPatrick Day... If anyone sees the Fitzpatrick clan in the area celebrating St Pats make sure to let him know he needs to come home.
Fitz's passer ratings since 2010 (starting with 2010) had him ranked 22, 22, 17, 23, 9, and 24. His DYARs (advanced metric) were 23, 19, 23, 21, 17, and 13. His total QBRs were 21, 20, 26, 16, 18, and 12. Averaging all 18 of those numbers, we get 19.2. In other words, Fitz has been the 19th best QB in the NFL the past six years, which is barely below average and nowhere near as bad as replacement level. The 19th highest salary in the NFL belongs to Alex Smith, at 17 million per year. Wouldn't you say 10 million would be a bargain for Fitz? As for Foles, he was really good when he took over in 2013, regressed to Fitz level in 2014, and was worse than replacement level, i.e. backup level, with the Rams last year.
I frankly am not sure whether it makes much sense to talk about Foles. But on the merits there was some indication that a lot of his problems last year may have been on the CS for the Rams. I read a good bit about them last season, since I thought they were an intriguing story. Anyway, I still think as a general matter Fitzpatrick is probably the best of those reasonably likely to be available, based in large part on the way he fits in with the Jets, and not having to start over with a new Qb.
You switched gears there. If Fitz is the 19th best QB in the NFL, he should be paid as the 19th best QB in the NFL, NOT as the 19th best player.
Sorry, I should have made it more clear that Alex Smith is the 19th highest paid QB in the NFL. He is not the 19th highest paid player.
No way u cut him he's bottom line cheap. Trade him? I don't think any team wants to give up anything for him. As far as confidence there is little to none. He killed it in the punching incident. JMO
Well things are going to get much worse because the Colts are about to give Andrew Luck $100 million guarnteed or so I heard....Fitz had better numbers last year
The Jets clearly do not value Ryan Fitzpatrick as much as fans do it seems. You wouldn't let your starting QB dangle on the market this long otherwise. Meaning, the Jets like and want him back, but they are not going to ridiculously over pay and feel they can move on without him. Completely fair. Fans need to get on the same page though. (Many are)
Well this sux Just read on PFF that Kap will stay in SF prob even tho Kap said he wanted a trade If this plays out we will be bidding for Fitz against Denver who still need QB and they have $ We need to offer Fitz 12 per with incentives that bump him to 15 mil...sheesh
Disagreed. The Broncos would not have traded for Sanchez if they were that high on Fitzpatrick. They are pretty much the same player as in an average veteran. Like I posted earlier, fans need to accept that Fitzpatrick and his agents might just be dicks wanting the top dollar instead of best situation. If so, the Jets can roll with RGIII, Hoyer, Glennon, Geno or Petty. I trust Mike Maccagnan.
Not saying the team should,Obviously Fitz and his agent think his value should be like the rest or a deal would have gotten done already. You really have a hard time understanding things
