Curtis Martin was a Great Jet......BUT January 1969, Jets vs. Colts, NFLers mocking the Jets from the AFL. Colts are a 19 point favorite. But wait, Tuesday night before the game all the News stations (2,4, and 7 in those days in NY) show a picture of Joe Namath in bathing suit near a Miami motel pool with drink in hand GUARANTEEING the Jets were going to beat the big bad Colts. The Colts wanted a part of him BADLY now.....well the rest is history,,,Curtis was great,,,,but NO ONE can ever replace Joe Namath as the GREATEST JET EVER.

I"ll remember him as the guy who lead the league in rushing without breaking a run more than 25 yards long and 30 years old(or was he 29?)

    All of the above Plus:
His dedication and The fact that he hardly ever put the ball on the ground.
That is such a big part of what Made C-Mart great.

ditto. Even with all of the positive things that have and will be said about him - CMart will probably wind up being one of the most underrated players of all time.

I'll remember all the good. The way he came out of the gate in 04 with 200 yards against Cincy. When they first got him how he was the master of making the first guy miss. The throw he made to Chrebet in Tampa in the flashlight game....but the thing I'll remember the most is the look on his face in January 05 when Pittsburgh hit the FG to knock us out after we missed twice. Heartbreaking. I'll always think if they called the same screen pass that got him down 26....if they called the exact same play on first down we couldda been in NE playing in the championship game the next week. I didn't even see the look because I was at the game, but I'll always remember watching it on the news the next day. That's when that loss really hit me, when I saw how disappointed Curtis was. F'ing Brien denied Curtis one last shot to get to the promised land.

I put that I would remember him for being 4th all time on the rushing list.. 30 years from now when I think back on these old Jets he will be the first one to pop in my mind because of his rushing stats

It was a 56-yard run and the game was played the year before he won the rushing title.
