He should be taking the podium in 2 minutes on SNY. It will replay a few times this afternoon for those who miss it.
he has not announced his retirement, just that he isn't coming back this year. He says he doesnt know if he is going to be back next year. It's going to be a "long run" to play next year
He is only confirming that he is done for the season. He did say that playing in the future would be a long shot though.
he just said he could "probably" still go out there and score a TD, but he doesn't want to devaste his future. He is talking about how much pain he has played through. And it would be "totally stupid" to play through this He played with this injury all of last year. He doesn't want to talk about injuries during the season, and he will push himself away from all distractions. He played most of last year (2nd game on) with a "career ending injury" He has had a very similar injury before. It didn't come to be a career ending injury until they had to take the cartilage out (surgery) He has played with more pain that this before. Its not a matter of being logical with decisions, but he is at the point now where he has to be logical. He didnt do any further damage by playing on it last year Coaching staff didnt know the extent of the injury last year.
The reporter furiuosly typing in front of the mic is pissing me off. Use a damn tape recorder or go to the back of the room!
It can only get worse if he were to play on it. He knows its not smart to play It basically boils down to this: get more surgery to play & jeopardize future, or leave knee as is (best its going to get as he says) and have a normal life And yes, that typer is VERY annoying
the reason he's not "retiring" is to help the Jets not have to eat the accelerated cap hit this season... Team guy to the end...
wow it just ended what he said before he left was very touching. We all are gonna miss seeing him on the field
Retirement is enevitable after this season , he has to get it straight in his head before pressing the button. Gave me a lump in the throat
Yeah, I couldn't believe how he was thanking all the reporters with such heartfelt gratitude. It's so rare to see in this day and age between pro athletes and the press. As Parcells said about him, he is a very very special special special man
Yea it was true though. Ive never ever really read a Bad Curtis Article. And its more because of how he handles himself and how he represented the Jets
