I just read in this mornings papper that Mike carey's crew was responcible for a bad call against the bengals (Roughing the passer)that cost them their game against the Buc's and the article finishes up saying "If you were to ask 100 people to look at this play(Bakers touchdown) 99 would have said it was a clear force out. Do these crews have their stuff to gether or what ,maybe they need training camp like the players go through. just a thought.
oh man, i remember seeing that Roughing the Passer (against the Buccs, i think?) a couple weeks ago. it was a TERRIBLE call. the defender tackled the QB, which was a sack; but the QB landed head-first on the tackle (just the way it turned out) so they ruled it Unnecessary Roughness, which was complete bullsh*t. it kept the drive going and the team then went on to win the game. i saw it and said, "jeez, i'd be so pissed if was a Bengals fan. i mean, i'm pissed at those refs and i don't even like the Bengals." well now i really know how it feels. cheers
it's strange, though, because for the most part I think Mike Carey is a pretty decent ref. He's no Jeff Triplett, that's for sure.
Well he WAS a decent Ref. This season, him and his crew already made 2 teams lose. I wouldnt be shocked if there is more to come.
I remember that call. It was complete Bull Sh*t! I don't of any other way Justin Smith is supposed to tackle the QB.
for starters i'am a fan of instant replay. but it all comes down to the footage the refs see to overturn the play call. i feel the nfl is not providing more camara angles at all points of the field for the refs to view. seems to me they just use the what the people watch on tv.
Big time BS. In Jax. One would have Stopped a Drive (Crucial at the Time) the Other would have given us a Safety.
