Lmao! People down here in Miami are so pissed right now hahaha http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14534244/miami-dolphins-close-deal-make-adam-gase-next-head-coach
Good luck with working with snooty Tannenhill. And what what do we pay Fitz?? That 90 millionthey gave him will come to bite them in the arse ...last summer I thought that was absurd of Tannenbaum. Glad we dumped him and Idzik. Moohaha
Another Philbin, awesome. They probably would have done themselves a favor by hiring Lovie Smith. When you're dealing with a talented but underacheiving team, it could help to bring in an experienced coach to establish some order. Even if he isn't going to be there for the next 10 years you at least know he's run a successful program before. The players are running things down there. Good look, Gase.
Tannehill sucks and Gase probably does too. Hiring a "QB guru" to fix a broken QB is dumb. Unless of course the idea is to draft a new one which I doubt. 4-12 incoming and Gase is out in 3 years is my prediction.
They should have gone defense IMO and RT1 blows but they have a really nice receiving core and Gase just made Smokin Jay look mostly good this year working with practice squad call-ups.
It's even worse that they gave Gase a five-year deal, control over the 53-man roster and playcalling duties to boot!
Wait, what? WTF is going on down there? You have Tannenbaum (who has a hand in things) and the new guy Grier is supposed to be the GM, but now you also have a rookie coach who has "control" over the roster ?With this and the nonsense that went on up in Buffalo this season. It's almost like the Jets front office woes are contaminating the other AFCE teams. Hmmm, I wonder how that could have happened..... Now if we could just get Bradway or Idzick into prominent positions with the Pats.
most coaches have final say on the 53, as well as who is active on Sundays, although it's usually a collaboration. that's how it needs to be. The GM doesn't tell the coach who is playing best. not sure what 'nonsense' you are referring to in Buffalo either. they just swept us.
i think Gase was actually a good hire for Miami, considering who was available. it's going to be tough for anyone to walk in and succeed in that situation though. the division has become tougher, and they have a lot of issues in Miami right now.
Sweeping us has nothing to do with the issues they have going on up there. Players talking, coaches may or may be fired, GM may or may not be fired etc, etc. That's nonsense of the first degree right there. Unless I'm mistaken beating the Jets twice hasn't negated any of that.
Actually a really good hire for the Fins. Look at his work with Cutler I was pulling for Tanny to re-unite with Rex but Buffalo is keeping the Big Top in town another season so Pettine going down there would've been awesome.
your examples of 'nonsense' are essentially nonsense. no one was fired, no one is about to be fired, and the owner has stated there is no playoff ultimatum in place. in terms of players talking, i assume you mean disgruntled. it certainly didn't appear like there were any locker room harmony issues, and they sure as shit didn't quit on the season. it's not like anyone punched a teammate. so not much meat there either. as far as getting swept, it would mean 1 of 2 things to me: 1) the Buffalo 'nonsense' theory is much to do about nothing OR 2) even with a lot of nonsense, they can still beat us Wanting the coaching situations in Buffalo and Miami to be a mess, doesn't mean it is. not yet at least. I'd say we have just as many question marks as they do at this point. we'll see how it plays out. As of now, I'd put Buffalo at even money with us to reach the playoffs, with Miami's odds a little less.
Phins could've done alot worst than Gase but it'll take alot more than a head coach to turn that culture around.
We were supposed even money with last place not Buffalo and maybe Miami on a good day. That has to have something to do with how the teams are being run. Tannenbaum gets some sway in Florida and they immediately hand out extremely large contracts. I can understand Tannehill due to the nature of the league and the general inability for most NFL teams to get even an average QB. The Suh contract is just the sort of thing outrageous thing Tannenbaum would have a hand in and its probably going to limit what the team can do going into the future. It's what happened while he was here; lots of hamburgers today for payment on Tuesday. Up in Buffalo they players talked, and talked and talked, penalties were up, players were asked to do things not in their immediate skill set. It wasn't working but nothing was done to work with the situation; sounds like what happened here as well. True enough nobody was fired this season, but things had progressed to a point where the team owners felt they needed to give a public vote of confidence for both Whatley and Rex. Same thing happened here although it took a few seasons and things got worse. Buffalo has enough talent that they should be able to rebound next season. If they don't we know where to point fingers. In any case next season is going to be very interesting.
