2010 special teams was roughly 8236273627836276382 times better then 2015

i think at CB the advantage is easily 2010. revis and cromartie were much better players then. 2010 revis had arguably the best season ever for a CB.

also, if we are talking the 09-10 season and not the 10-11 season its Thomas jones at HB, in which case id give 2010 a slight edge

i think overall individual comparisons dont paint the picture

2010 defense was better then 2015, slightly

2010 special teams was much better then 2015

2015 offense was better then 2010 by a decent margin

overall i think its similar. id probably go with the 2015 because sanchez was so bad.

i dont know that wr is "much" better. its better, but lets not forget that edwards and holmes were both really good players... and that they had the disadvantage of having mark sanchez throw to them.

braylon edwards was a 1300 yard 16 TD wide out in cleveland
Santonio Holmes was a 80 catch 1200 yard wideout in pittsburg

if those guys where on this team, i think there numbers would be much better with chan/fitz. it wouldnt be as good as marshall decker, but it would be pretty good.

they would do what they always did, put revis on the 1 and double team the two

revis would be on marshall all day with cro getting help on the other side on decker

We didn't lose in Pitt because of Sanchez. We lost because the entire team decided to take the first half off. The reason we even had a shot in the end was because Sanchez played his ass off in the second half.

i dont know how you cant knock the 2010 team being compused under adversity. they won back to back road playoff games... first beating peyton manning in indy... having to engineer a game winning FG drive in under a minute. and then going into foxborough and beating brady and the pats, a team that beat us by like 30 points a few weeks earlier in their building.

the rex teams the last year or 2, sure... but that 2010 team was as tough as it gets in big spots. hell even in the steelers game they held in and made it a 1 possesion game late after being down big

of course it is. a real qb is opening the offense up so much more. we would have scored more in the first half. sanchez was the worst qb in football. if we have alex smith, we might have had home field instead of sneaking in at 9-7, that needs to factor in as well

We were 11-5 that year and a few of those riduculous wins were due to Sanchez. It was definitely his best season. It was all downhill after that but there is no way Alex Smith would've gotten us a bye. The Pats were 14-2 and we were one of their losses.

we would have been significantly better with smith. sanchez was the worst qb im football, smith was at least average. we might have very well topped the pats for the division. all that team needed was a qb

This team has a much better passing game.

The 2010 team had a much better offensive line and overall running game.

This defense is more talented, but hasn't reached its full potential, IMO. The overall defenses are pretty close to one another.

The 2010 Special Teams unit kills this year's unit in every conceivable way.

Overall, I'd give a slight edge to the 2010 team, but it's very, very close.

I remember reading an incredible statement in 2010.
That Jet defense was so ridiculous scary good that; ready for this...
The number two defense was Green bay. Statistically, they were closer to the number 8 defense. That is beyond comprehension. Especially when you consider the interceptions and 3 and out series the offense was prone to.
Think about it, the defense was always on the field and still, STILL managed those stats.
Had we gone to the superbowl the Jets defense would've been right there with the 85 bears and 2000 Ravens.
The short answer to this thread is these two teams with their rosters and talent and coaching are not even on the same planet.
The OP's assessment is so completely and utterly wrong it's funny. My guess is he didn't watch 2010 with much scrutiny. That offense was atrocious. Schotty was a complete failure and Mark Sanchez was infuriating.

we make do tomorrow I say we are Bowl bound

2010 Coaching other than Westoff sucked..Rex sucked. There is no comparison with CS and Management 2015 vs 2010. This is a big key IMHO

Rex beat Brady and Manning by playing a lot of nickel basically daring them to run. He tried the same thing vs Ben and the Steelers and they gashed us with Willie Parker and a beat up oline.

I was discussing the 2010-11 season when our offense was competent.

I've always said LT was the catalyst. Without LT Sanchez is mediocre...

People are vastly underrating the 2010 runningbacks. Ivory has been good in spurts but his vision isn't very good at the line of scrimmage so if he doesn't have the original hole the play is designed for.

People also tend to forget Brad Smith as an X-factor for that running game. He ran for almost 300 yards at almost 8 yards a clip before the wild cat was a piece of shit formation. We also had two guys eclipse 750 yards rushing. The offensive line was better but the backs made that offense work.

It's funny that we saw what Shonn Greene was a feature back so everyone downplays him as the #2 guy. He was incredibly dynamic and while not as violent as Ivory he ran over a run of people with a head of steam.

If only we could combine the two. The 2015 dline, receivers, qb, and coaches on the 2010 squad. That'd be a sick team right there. I'd also throw in the 2015 safeties (Leonhard, Poole, and black or white Eric Smith < Gilchrist and Pryor) and also the 2015 cb's from Skrine on down.

The only coach I would keep would be Westoff from the 2010 team. The job Rex did that year on New England was great, but he had the team on such an emotional high for that game; so much so that they had nothing left for the Steeler game. But that's what you gotta live with when you have Rex as your head coach.
