1) Why didn't the Jets blitz at all in the 1st half? I know your defense was getting run over, but on those few passing plays, why did you insist on rushing 3 players? and the rest... 2) Have you lost your nerve? First 4 games, you're taking all kinds of chances...going on 4th down, eschewing FGs for TDs...now you're coaching very conservatively? 3) Why didn't you draft or sign a massive prototypical NT when you knew, come hell or hideous run defense, you were going to mule-ishly stick with a 3-4 alignment? 4) Is Chad hurt? His throws had the look of the lawn darts from last year?
1) This is a very bad defense - forget about the blitz or anything fancy. 2) He's coaching conservative because he doesn't have the horses to do otherwise. 3) Because the OL, which has produced no running game this season, was more of a priorty. 4) One gets the feeling that Chad's days are numbered in this organization.
1. The whole point of a 3-4 defence is to bring at least one linebacker on the blitz. The beauty is that you dont know which one or how will blitz. If you dont blitz a linebacker then thats 3 men going forward instead of 4 in the 4-3 This is not helping anything we should be blitzing far more in the first half. 2. He didnt coach conservative in other games and we won a couple 3. I agree 4. What happened to chad these past two weeks? Before Jax we were heralding him as the savior
Its funny how Chad played bad one game and we are calling for his head. Most of us didn't even think he's play.
I think #1 is answerable that we do not have LBers who have the necessary talent to be successful when they blitz. I think the rest is cause he saw how there OLine was mauling our DLine & there DLine was mauling our OL
Yeah the no blitzing strategy is not a good one. Especially with Charlie Frye who gets sacked all the time... seems kind of stupid.
Totally disagree champ. Im just talking about the defensive side of the ball. The Jets totally stopped the browns rushing in the second half and Frye couldnt fine room to breath. Now some may say thats because the Browns got conservative..thats nonsense. The Jets gameplan should have been to stop the run..PERIOD. Let Charlie Frye beat you...PERIOD. That was a complete coaching blunder from the beginning..and somehow it took them almost 3 quarters to get it right.
Maybe it was & we just could not stop them. Have you considered that? I'm sure such a supposed genius as Man that he was trying to make adjustments from the onset of the onslaught but whatever he did came up double snake eyes
I didn't call for Chad's head...I simply asked if he was hurt. His throws were frequently high floaters similiar to last year. He was hit last week while throwing and there was some question as to whether he might've injured the shoulder again.
Yeah champ but we are dealing in facts..and the facts are that the Browns couldnt do a thing in the final quarter of that game. Why? Because Romeo got conservative? Romeo was conservative the whole game..just that we made changes that took 3 quarters to figure out. If we couldnt stop them the whole game..I would see your point..but we could..and we did.
Agreed on all 4 points. This team was playing hard and taking risks at the start of the year and damn near beat the Patriots. Now they're playing like little old ladies waiting for a bus. It was nice to see the wake-up call in the 4th quarter, but jeez where was that effort in the first three? This team is going to sleep on us and 6-10 is back in the mix in my opinion. And I have no problem with the fact that it's tough to win with the kind of talent the Jets have at the moment, the problem is that the talent doesn't seem to be trying very hard at times.
I'm not sure what the difference was between the start of the game and the end for the defense, but you would certainly hope it's not that they weren't trying or playing hard initially. The Jets blitzed on 3rd downs plenty early in the game today, and they never got home. All of a sudden late in the game guys were finding holes. I recall one early 3rd down when they blitzed 6 or 7 guys and didn't even get past the LOS. From everything I've seen this year from the defense I tend to side with champ on this one, and the fact that they just aren't very good.
wagon jumpers why didn't the jets draft a nt? maybe b/c they had other major needs and by the time they filled them, there were no nose tackles worth a crap left to draft. or maybe there were no quality nt to draft to begin with! as far as noodle arm, maybe the wind made is throwing look bad. he has no zip on the ball to begin with, add in the wind and he's useless. all the talk of playoffs and a 10-6/11-5 record was a major reach or joke even. people counting all these losing teams as automatic wins. well, reallity check time. the jets are not that good. there isn't a team out there that doesn't look at the jets as a excellent chance of a victory. jets can beat the weak teams in the league, but they can just as easily lose to them also. let the wagon jumping continue, reallity is a bitch for some!!!!!
At this point most teams are going to start to realize that the Jets are the 5-7 win team that they were predicted to be and start to attack their pathetic Defense from all angles. If the jets loose the next two games as predicted it is time for Clemens, Brad Smith and Leon Washington to get Major playing time so we can start working towards next year. Chads days are numbered and we have to see if he can play and we have to find out if a starting Rb or Nt is a high prority in the draft next year. 3-4 or 4-3 it makes no difference out team does not have the players to execute either. Justin Miller should be a Kick Returner only. He can not stick his own shadow. This is a two to three year plan. Period.
I would agree 3rd if the Jets didnt totally stop them. How many times do you see weak teams get a big td..but cant stop the other team again. That wasnt the case yesterday...a light switch went on..and quite honestly..thats even a bigger concern than not having the talent. Dont get me wrong..the talent is average at best..but we were playing a below average offense. The Browns have struggled all year..against the best..and the worst.
I'd just sooner attribute it to the Browns going into a shell then anything drastic the Jets changed on defense. As bad as our run D has been, if it keeps opposing teams from passing alot it may actually benefit the Jets. The Jets D for example looked pretty good against Miami until they opened it up then they looked like garbage. The Browns shut down their O in this game and made the Jets look good.
Chad has played 2 bad games this season. You guys are pretty crazy insulting him or asking for Clemmens to enter. Not many people believed in Chad before the season. Now he leads the team to 4 wins in the first half of the season with one of the worst Jets defenses I have ever seen and you guys keep acting like this. I don't get it.
