Fuck this fucking franchise inability to find a fucking qb.

Maybe this is the Curse of Namath. Sold his soul to the devil to win S3 and were paying the price now

    Fitz will come close certainly.

Whats the caliber of defenses we've got to face next? thats should determine if he does it or not.

It's a disgrace that Ninny Interceptaverde holds the record. Please, Fitz, break his record!!!!

    Different Houston.

Those were the Houston Oilers n/k/a the Tennessee Titans franchise.

Schaub holds the record for the Houston Texans franchise.

Ah, thanks. For some reason, I had thought Houston kept the same records.

I think this list perfectly illustrates the biggest single issue this franchise has had since Superbowl 3.

No that happened with the Browns. Even though the franchise left for Baltimore and Cleveland was without a team for a few years, the deal they cut with the NFL was that once they got a franchise back, all the records stayed in Cleveland.

Baltimore, even though an existing franchise started with a clean slate.

Typically when a franchise moves, everything goes including the records.

So the Houston Oiler franchise records are now part of the Tenn Titan legacy.

For a single season, no question. Vinny was simply awesome that year. For one year, Vinny lived up to all of his potential.

If it hadn't been his achilles, it would have been his brain. It was a miracle that Parcells got Vinny to play that well in '98. I think it would have been impossible for him to get the same thing out of Vinny in '99.

26 franchises have had a QB throw for 30 or more TD's in a season. 6 guys have hit 30+ TD's with 2 different teams. Peyton Manning (Ind/Den), Brett Favre (GB/Min), Kurt Warner (StL/Az), Randall Cunningham (Phi/Min), Warren Moon (Oilers/Min) and Sonny Jurgensen (Phi/Was). Jurgensen is the only guy to hit 30+ TD's with 2 teams without playing in a dome at some point to do it.

Several guys hit 30+ TD's for the first time after the age of 30. Y.A Tittle and Steve Young both did it twice after 30 but never before that. Warren Moon was like the Satchel Paige of football throwing 33 TD's at age 34 and 39. He didn't play his first down in the NFL until he was 28 but wound up with 291 career TD's and nearly 50k yards throwing. If he'd been playing in the NFL from the get-go he probably is the guy holding the records Brett Favre eventually broke.

Steve Beuerlein had his one great year with 4,413 yards passing and 36 TD's at the age of 34. His next highest season was 19 TD's. George Blanda had a better overall career but he also hit 35 TD's on age 34, the first time over 30 for him. Jim Kelly had 1 season at 33 at the age of 31. Lynn Dickey was another guy who came out of nowhere to throw 32 TD's at the age of 34. They represented more than a quarter of his career total. Babe Parilli threw 31 TD's at the age of 34 in 1964. Brian Sipe had 30 TD's at the age of 31 also.

So what all of this suggests is that it's not unreasonable for Fitpatrick to get hot at the end of the season and wind up with 30+ TD's despite his advanced age. It also is not out of the realm of possibility that he finds enough magic to do it more than once with the right things (Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker) finally going for him late in his career.

Probably. But, even a toned down Vinny still could have led us on another deep playoff run. That team had a lot of talented veterans and was hungry (as evidenced by the late season playoff push). But, everyone in the locker room knew that there wasn't a suitable replacement on the roster. So, all of the air was essentially let out of the balloon by halftime of week 1. I honestly think that if we had snuck into the playoffs that year, we would have been very dangerous.

I still remember Curtis Martin fumbling the handoff and Vinny diving for it .....and.......pop goes the season....

How about punter Tom Tupa coming in as QB and throwing two TDs in that game ? One to Keyshawn and the other to Freddy Baxter
