The thing is that the main reason people are upset with Mac-Bowles right now is because this team started off well and everyone's expectations readjusted upwards. If we had started poorly and stayed that way or started off poorl y and went on a winning streak then we'd all be talking up the current FO me CS. The thing is that this is the same team and staff in either case. This team lacks depth and has holes, it has had injuries at some key positions, and has underperformed in some ways. But if you take a step back and consider all the factors there isn't anything all that surprising here, even if it is a little disappointing after a good start.
These are all good points, but for all of those there are WAY more that had success earlier, rather than later, and could never repeat it. The thing is that the largest groups of all are the coaches who've had modest, little, and no success. These groups, like the Herm Edwards and Manginis, are by far the most common. Then there are the Kotites. I don't even wanna talk about those coaches..... I just wanna purge that memory.
It certainly wouldn't kill them if Woody didn't let the fan base make his personnel decisions. He's so easily swayed by the pundits and boos, that he can't possibly have any type of continuity. It's always rebuild. They can't seem to figure out what makes a good QB either. All great teams have great football pedigree running the show. Packers, Cowboys (albeit, its been a while) 9ers, and with Kraft the Pats. Its idiocy at the ownership level. I don't know how else to explain a team going through coaches, QBs and systems every 2-5 years. Just crappy ownership. We've had shitty offense for how many years now....sooo lets pick yet another defense specialist coach. Maybe Bowels calm demeanor is why this team doesn't play football until halfway through the second qtr.
Some coaching mistakes were made in the Bills game that might've cost us. That could be said about every coach. Our last five coaches started off 10-6 or 9-7. The last three made playoffs in their first season. All ended poorly. For once, I'd like to see if a guy improves with time rather than fails in trying to live up to early success
There have been 30 head coaches that have won the Super Bowl. 20 of them won it with the team they first coached in the NFL. Belichick and Coughlin skew the numbers the last decade and a half but they are just 2 out of the 30 coaches to win the Super Bowl.
Bellicheat is calm too but the Pats play hard so go figure I think BB gets in your face at practice or in the locker room to remind u how your expendable
I don't think he gets in people's faces, I think he sends the Turk looking for them if he doesn't like what he sees, no matter what kind of investment he has in them. I'm pretty sure Tom Brady thinks he's just a few bad starts in a row from retirement and probably has thought that since about 2012.
funny because if we win big this week this whole board will be all roses and sunshine...our fan base is particularly bi-polar this year.
He might not be on the hot seat but even with luck on the field, I don't think the Colts are a 12-4 11-5 team as they have been in other divisions. Their division has been a laughing stock for years now. Of course it's just hypothetical's but are the Colts the same team they have been (record wise) the past few years if they were in a different division? I don't know and I never will know. But my guess would be no.
I don't live up north but I think it's particularly the media up there's fault. There really is no media that I have ever seen as bi-polar as northern media.
Appreciate your insight, but what the jets suffer most from is a dearth of good players. They wasted #1 picks on Gholston, Wilson, and Coples and second round picks on Hill, Vlad , Nugent, Geno, and third round picks on McDougle, Winters. etc. Sure, every team misses once in a while in the draft , but Tanny, Idzik, and Rex were in way over their head running a draft and now it is catching up. A team can't waste high draft pick after pick and expect to be competitive!
