The assumption is he'll probably receive a tsunami of boos. And deservedly so, I suppose. His last few years here were mostly a joke. But truth be told, I'm forever grateful for what he did for this franchise his first few years. Made us a contender. Took us out of the SOJ psyche. Made us interesting at the very least. Sometimes it feels like most of the animosity towards him was primarily conjured up by Manish and Cimini... Curious if anyone feels the same, or if most are heading into tonight with pure venomous thoughts.
All his latest antics are all self serving and egotistical He took the Jets to two Championships but he has made up for that by being such a foul mouthed piece of...
No, I don't allow myself to influenced by Mannish fucking Mehta... Rex wore out his welcome, his big talk and bravado works well... when you're winning. But ONLY when you're winning. When you're losing it becomes difficult to put up with. Factor in his stupid twitter wars with Chace Amaro, the foot fetish and cuckold thing he was into, ripping the Jets players and fans (calling the Buffalo fans by far the best) etc... then naming IK a captain (straight disrespect to the fans, players, and franchise imo) and you have what amounts to me thinking he's a immature bully at best.
i found Rex interesting, and loved the fact that he didn't conform to the tight lipped media adverse coaching standard. ultimately media policy is just entertainment, and has nothing to do with W's and L's so why not be different? he was unique, and like him or not, one of the most successful coaches we've ever had. i expect the reaction to be mixed. personally i don't understand the need to bash every former player, coach, exec, etc., to be a part of the Jets. especially if they genuinely cared, bled green, and had some level of success. i would cheer......but the popular thing to currently do is make Rex the villain..
Actually Manish has been all over Rex this week. Defended his decision to make IK a captain, said Pryor shouldn't have criticized Rex and should have directed it at Idsik, posted his top 10 Rex moments and predicted a Bills victory tonight
lol nothing you just said has anything to do with football.. so yes, you have been influenced by sensational media stories, most of which i'd dispute as being true.
I would trade Bowles for Rex in a heart beat. I KNOW what Rex can do with a good team. Add Fitz, the QB he never had in NY, and it's all the way. Bowles may get us there in a few years but Rex would get this team there NOW. Rex would NEVER have lost that game in NE. Shit, he took NE to overtime twice last year with no DBs and GENO under center. Bitch all you want, but Rex is a better HC. Bowles could easily pass him down the road, but today with this team? Give me Rex any time.
Played a huge role in 2 thrilling seasons and one of the biggest wins in franchise history. I wouldn't scream or give him a standing ovation but I'd clap.
Great def coordinator terrible head coach ! I never liked all the talking, talk is cheap actions speak louder than words , talk on the field not before games ! I read his book , I enjoyed it that said all the talk about stepping out of the Giants shadow or no longer being the little brother turned into more talk as The Jets had an oportunity to back up the talk on Xmas Eve instead we watched Cruz run 99 yards and then we had to endure the Giants Super Bowl run ! All Rex s fault ? Not totally but he was a huge part of it especially putting Sanchez in a meaningless preseason game behind backups once again against the Giants,,,,do I hate Rex ? No ,,am I glad he is gone ? Yes yes yes ! Would I boo him tonight if I was there ? Probably not but I would not cheer him !
The last few years were a mess but I don't think it was all his fault. I think we'd have the same record if he was our HC this year with the money spent and moves made this offseason..although everyone would've flipped and blamed it on Rex taking Leonard Williams.
Only one person deserves to get booed from the previous regime and that is John Idzik. I love Rex but I wouldnt hoot and holler for him. Tonight he's the enemy and even though he delivered the Jets some success he didnt deliver a Superbowl , which is the only thing outside of a Hall of Fame career that a former coach or player needs to accomplish to receive a standing ovation from a rival crowd.
Rex is a terrible head coach, defensive coach , yes. He does not have the ability to make adjustments, or keep his team on an even keel. Give me Coach Bowles 20 times over.
Just like his father. Buddy was a little more ornery than Rex, but similar strengths and weaknesses on the sideline. I will give Buddy the edge in toughness, he actually slugged a coach on the sideline, Rex would never do that, he'd talk about having done it, but actually doing it, nah...
I'll always like Rex but fuck the Bills. Hope we crush them. I predict Rex gets boo'd louder than anyone in recent memory.
Ha I sort of agree. No way Rex loses that Pats game. Though a popular mantra going into both the Philly and Oakland games was "these are the games a Rex coached team loses" and we lost anyway. Maybe it's the players or maybe it's leftover stench? Idk
Rex told the players he wanted to punch Belichick in the face before they swamped NE in the playoffs lol. I'd like to see that fat hoodie fuck get punched.
