http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/story/464951p-391244c.html Also a very good article on D-Rob: http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1161837953113720.xml&coll=1
Did he mention his contract or how high we drafted him? I will give him some credit, he has gotten a bit better, he still isnt good enough against the run though.
If he turns into a solid NT then he'll finally have justified the pick. He never was a good enough DT to do that. I still think he's a big longshot to work this out but he did look a bit better last week.
How is that relevant? If you're analyzing our defense, I don't think you consider the average draft position. We can't do the pick over again, so at this point, I just care if we have a good nose tackle or not.
I agree. Where he was drafted is unimportant right now. How much he makes, though, is. Still..he has show some signs lately.
Nothing about his bum knee? I don't like all this good press, especially for Drob and BT, who you could charitably call both mediocre to this point. Whenever the Jets spend this much time patting themselves on the back and congratulating themselves on how good they are, they lose bad. This could be an ugly game against the shitstains.
   thats the funniest thing i have read in a long time thanks for the laugh. 1 good game and now he is a dominant force.. better get that canton speech ready.
In all fairness to Roberston, this is his first year in a whole new position. I don't think he can necessarily be blamed for having a tough adjustment to NT. Blame him for his repeated awful seasons before this, but give him a pass for '06
He still was not worth that high draft spot. Even worse, we traded up to get him. I watched him in college and thought that he was good, not great. I thought that Sweet Pea Burns (Kentucky DT, now with the Colts) was good too. I still remember the day before the Draft, I came up to NYC to cover the draft and I'm sitting in traffic listening to the pseudo-experts of college football, Mike & The Mad Dog try to make sense of a career that they had never seen him play in college. It was an absolute joke! And you all up there know how omniscient those two think that they are. Remember Big Daddy Wilkerson? How 'bout Steve Emntman? Even Ted Washington was crap when he had first gotten into the league with the Niner; however, at least he got better.
I would love to see DRob become the player I thoguht he wqould be: a Casey hampton clone. We'll see. I've been encouraged by his weekly progress, but I want to see where he's at by the edn of the year before I heap too many accoldaes on him. He is talented, I just want to see him put it all together.
