no Snead/Watson mention? just goes to show you how good QB's elevate no matter what.......no receivers, no height, no rotator cuff......no matter! Brees still produces. almost all the good combos mentioned here have that common denominator of a very good QB.. Brown/Bryant, Gronk/Edleman, Cobb/Nelson/Jones, Jones/White, Allen/Gates, Thomas/Sanders.... from that lens, it actually makes Marshall/Decker seem even more impressive to me.
Hey Bills Over Jets, think what you want but just remember. Brandon Marshall- 5th round pick Sammy Watkins- 2 1st round picks and a 4th round pick
Yall sleeping on that Dez Bryant and T-Will combo too... but dez been hurt.. I'd say right now Marsh and Deck are top 5 as a duo.
Whether we're top 3 or 5 or 10, we're productive. We're productive not just because of Marshall and Decker but because of Marshall and Decker and Fitz and at least 8 other players and their coaches.
In our loss to the Eagles you hear everyone pointing the fact that Ivory was out. IMO, the fact the Decker was out was just as important. The absence of Decker allowed them to double Marshall and key on the run.
Jordy and cobb for sure, but this year there is no jordy Brown and bryant i agree on I don't think marvin is that good Roddy is old and done. hankerson passed him on the depth chart calvin and tate i agree on thomas and sanders i agree on I'd also add beckham and cruz (when healthy) but cruz hasn't played and might not be the same when he gets back anyway you look at it, for this year i'd say marshall/decker are top 3 at best, top 5 at worst combo. the best the jets have had in a long time.
Great post, and this is my line of thinking as well. Receivers' value is always heavily dependent on quarterback play, and I would absolutely take Marshall and Decker over Nelson and Cobb. I think the Packers GM would do that too. I posted this in another thread the other day, but it bears repeating; these are the quarterbacks who have thrown touchdown passes to Marshall: Jay Cutler, Kyle Orton, Matt Moore, Chad Henne, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh McCown, Jason Campbell, and Jake Plummer. For him to put up the huge numbers year after year his entire career with THIS group of sorry ass quarterbacks throwing to him... well, need I say more? Decker showed in 2012 and 2013 that he can be a top receiver with great quarterback play. He also played well in 2011 with TEBOW at quarterback and in 2014 with GENO at quarterback. p.s. Also, just want to point out the Hurns/Robinson duo in Jacksonville again. They are really good.
It's by far the best possession receiver tandem but overall they lack speed, they can't stretch the field. That's why they're perfect for our offense. A guy like Brandin Cooks or Antonio Brown wouldn't function here even though as a player I'd easily take both of them over Decker if Marshall is on the other side. If I had to build an offense where you can match up any of the QB's that qualify (no Brady, A-Rod etc.) with a receiving tandem I'd probably go Dalton, AJ Green and Marvin Jones right now. Dalton throws a good deep ball, AJ Green is a complete receiver and Jones is a great deep threat. Falcons would be right up there if they had a better #2. But if Fitzpatrick is my QB I'm going with Marshall and Decker. Cowboys would be an option with Dez Bryant but they don't have a #2 either.
