I hope the Jets win in dominating fashion if only to turn that mad frown upside down for one day.

We should practice plays that we will not be running on Sunday so that the Patriots will not be ready. They will pull some shit Sunday, just watch.

Yeah, come to think of it when's the last time we really kicked their ass? Maybe the Pennington game in '02 when we beat them up there the next to last game before the home game with the Packers. When we do beat them it's usually some epic back and forth one-score game.

Jay, I'm of the opinion that you might have the wrong elephant and possibly in the wrong room.
It is not the pass rush than requires our attention, but special teams, Lack of penalties and scoring TDs instead of field goals when we have the ball. We have to out score them and slow the game down. Brady will find an open receiver and fire in 2-3 seconds, so we need to keep Brady on the bench, force them into a full field and get under Bradys skin with clever formations. Give the Pats a short field with shitty punts or return coverage to boot and we are cooked.
Having said that, when we do sack him it should be a clean, legal but powerful message. Slow the freaking elephant down.

I've brought this up the past 3 or 4 weeks and have been crucified for it.

At it is a concern. especially once we play good qbs like brady. we have even had trouble getting a pass rush when blitzing at times. and our front 4 havent been winning their matchups very often in the passing game. Not only that, teams dont fear our front 4 from a pass rush stand point, as evidenced by them not keeping their backs in very often in pass blocking support...

we need that pass rush not only to disrupt the qb, but to take backs and tight ends out of their routes and forced in to pass block support. otherwise we get backs on davis/harris and we get long plays against us in those mismatches.

if brady has time, we likely dont get away with it like we did vs cousins and its mroe like the first half of the philly game

he didnt say anything about sacks, he said pass rush.

pass rush involves alot more then just sacks....

pressures - forcing throws before guys come open, forcing a qb to move off his spot before making throws, tipped balls
Hits - putting the qb on the ground, speeding up his internal clock, making him get happy feet
Keep HB/TE in - by getting pressure, teams are forced to commit backs and TEs to blocking instead of going out on pass routes

the fact that Washington didnt pass well doesnt mean that the patriots wont be another story. cousins is a terrible qb and they were missing their best WR. we have also faced teams with tons of starting lineman missing. yet still havent generated much of a pass rush

its a concern for sure. the sky isnt falling, we have the secondary to help make up for it and we play TONS of bad qbs who wont take advantage, but to beat the few good teams/qbs we will face they need to step up. especially considering the money they make

Ding ding ding. It is imperative against a QB like Brady.. I don't care how many guys you have back in coverage he will pick you apart if he has time to throw.

i posted the breakdown in the washington thread, that is inaccurate. backs stayed in on like 11 of the 45 drop backs and tight ends like 9. it wasnt max protect all game. they blocked 3 extra guys twice, on designed deep double move routes. other then that it was mostly 5 men blocking with the occasional back or TE in to help

We have just 16 QB hits this season... thats 31st in the NFL:
    http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...fensiveStatisticCategory=null&qualified=false

We have 26 hurries, 22nd in the NFL:
    http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/total-team-defensive-hurries/2015/

we had 4 hurries and 2 qb hits vs the redskins.

so it isnt just sacks, and we werent in cousins face all day. the statsheet and the game tape both confirm that.

us blwoing up the run game is irrelevant, as no one said the dline is playing bad overall, the point is they arent getting enough pressure in passing situations

we payed cromartie and revis a kings ransom. if they cant lineup and defend those guys thats a major issue.

we should NEVER be sunk because we are missing our 3rd or 4th CB
