The NFL Coach of the Year Award is presented annually by various news and sports organizations to the NFL head coach who has done the most outstanding job of working with the talent he has at his disposal. Is there any other coach more deserving of this award so far???

We could win 3 more games than New Orleans and it would still be Payton. Feel-good stories usually win out and the Saints haven't really had a homefield advantage since Katrina.

I think that NO will win that award. Mangini does have a chance but we will need to win at least 10 games

Exactly, although that's not at all saying that Mangini's doing a bad job. Just at this point the Saints went from the second-worst team in the league to a perrenial force in the NFC. I think any other year Mangini would have a decent shot at this, considering the improvement of our record and such.

when they award it; is it one for the whole NFL, or one for the AFC and ne for the NFC?

    If its one for both,
    AFC: Mangini
    NFC: Peyton

The Saints would have to go downhill a bit and we would have to win 10.

Can we at least let the Saints string together a couple successful seasons in a row under Payton before calling them a "perennial force"? Other than that, I agree Payton deserves the award if the season ended today. The Saints are 5-1. That pretty much says it all.

I am afraid the nod would have to go here, too, but Mangini certainly is doing a fine job.

If the Jets make the playoffs, Mangini has a shot. Otherwise, this is clearly going to NO.

But I'll take the Comeback Player of the Year award our QB will get over theirs any day.

Isn't it a little early to be asking this question?

Yes, but as of right now, it's Payton in a landslide.

I do agree that (again, right now) Pennington is the frontrunner for comeback player of the year.

new orleans season is far from over.

they started strong, but have to finish that way as well. Carolina is breathing down their necks, just waiting for NO to stumble, and then they'll pounce.

    Carolina should win that division.

There's something to hang your coat on....comeback player of the year.

Hey who was the comeback player of 2006? That was Chad Pennington. Who?
You remember, kid had 2 surgeries and then made it back the next year. Who?

I wonder if there's a Most Corn-Filled Shit of The Year Award. How about The Dirtiest Sanchez Award. Voted Most Likely to be Arrested on Drug Charges Award.

ALright how about Most Likely to Have Reached 1000 Yards Rushing If Not For An Injury Award?

The grandkids will shine with pride polishing that puppy off at the family reunion.
