They couldn't score points because we had Marty Mornihweg as our Offensive Coordinator last year. That was his achilles heel: scoring points in the end zone. He was absolutely terrible at it in Philly, he was absolutely terrible at it with the Jets. That was the reason we couldn't actually punch it in last year. This year we have Gailey who makes the reads in the Endzone easier. Everything at camp points to Geno having an easy time scoring in the endzone. Plus he has Marshall, Smith, Kerely, Decker to throw it to. He's got offensive weapons this year. Like I said I disagree, he would have completed a few to Devon Smith/Kerely deep running Go or post routes. Something Fitz is absolutely terrible at. He would have given us a chance to win with a few 20+ yard completions. Instead I got flashbacks to the Pennington era. And I know no one ever wants to relive that ever again.
Silver lining: the loss was against an NFC team. Losing always sucks. It was a bad loss. Everyone has every right to be pissed. But we lost against an NFC team. If we want to have any hope for making a playoff run, this is the least damaging loss we could take (as well as DAL, NYG, and WAS). Hopefully Bowles does the needful and uses this poor excuse for a football game to get these guys to step up their game and do it better.
It's the little things that matter when you've spent all afternoon shouting at the TV, which is where I was earlier today. I thought I was going to have a stroke after the Marshall "fumble". It was like WTF ARE YOU DOING! Don't you know better than that?
More proff this defense really sucks and last week was an anomaly...I guess we need a coach who understands defense, too bad we let one that did go.
Dude shut up. We shut them out in the 2nd half at least. You really think Rex would have made those adjustments? LOL Our D allowed 17 points total, and That's with 4 turnovers by the offense.
I know you don't like Geno and he may not have done any better today. But Fitz is fine in a low scoring game. But he can't throw the deep ball very well and that allows the defense to stack the line play a short zone. He is what he is and for now he will play but expect the bye week to allow the Jets to ready Smith for the rest of the season.
That's very possible. If the Jets can't manage games this year for the defense we're going 8-8 tops. The offensive line is over-rated at this point and nobody is going to get enough time back there to make a deep offense work. One of the reasons Fitzpatrick has been inaccurate in the deep game is he is releasing the ball very quickly. Devon Smith may be able to make adjustments to deal with those throws in single coverage but it's going to be a nightmare for Brandon Marshall in double coverage. And I just want to point out that I don't dislike Geno. I just don't have any confidence in him at this point. If I disliked him I wouldn't be using his first name. I gotta like you to do that. The Jets QB's on my first name list are Vinny, Chad and Geno. I went through phases where I didn't trust any of them but they were always my first name guys.
Seriously? If you're in such Awe go root & watch the Patriots then.. I don't think anyone wants to hear about those scumbags beyond the overall standings & when we actually play them. Arrogant cheats don't deserve attention.
Good stuff. I have noticed that Fitz does not move well like he used to. Rodgers who is the best moves very well and is the same age. Geno is athletic enough to buy time and he has a big arm. I always prefer the better athlete even if he less experience. I have no doubt that the coaches and GM know that Fitz can only take them so far. PS. I was never a Vinny fan but liked Joe, Chad and Kenny early.
The only thing I disagree w/ you about is the OL. The pass pro has been pretty good for first 3 games. Philly's causing the dirty windshield was more about nobody being open, poor running game & Fitz lacking the mobility to take off. I don't think the running game being utilized fits this group. Jets wanna pound the ball and drive the defense back. While this has been their custom for a long time..I don't see that style w/ this line. They really aren't great drive blockers & are quite easily stacked up. What these 5 are good at is getting into space, creating seams w/ their ability to reach the second level, & staying locked on. A patient cut-back type runner who could find the space would be very productive in this offense. As it stands the Jets have physical, tough downhill runners who need that initial "push" up front. That's not this OL's strength. An adjustment needs to be made.
What is Milliner going to do besides trip over his own feet and hurt himself? The secondary is the least of this teams problems and when he comes back, he wont even get any playing time anyways. Get definitely use the others though.
It was a fun ride while it lasted but we all knew we got a lot of lucky breaks getting to 2-0. Fumbles at the goal line, a missed 33 yrd FG, Manzel forced to come in, a lot of Colt players injured. Remember Geno's first season we go 8-8 due to some great calls in our advantage? Late hit out of bounds, 'pushing' the pile, etc. We took the wins but we all knew we were not an 8-8 team. The following season (4-12) confirmed it. Now it's 2015 and we got some lucky breaks again. We're not giving back the wins, but we all knew we could have just as easily lost those first two games. Our team is 'new', with a new offense/defense that our players will only get better at. Add in Devin Smith, Decker, and Richardson coming back and the arrow is pointing up. We're an 8-8 team that 'could' see 9-7 and the last WC spot. Put 2009 in your VCR. That's where we are, 8-8 but getting better.
Cros here on a 1 year deal.....Millner still has a shot to be a part of this teams future if he makes an impact and stays healthy. He is also getting to learn from the best in Revis....I'm not ready to close the door on Millner yet
