Sensitivity to light can be a symptom to a greater problem. I hope he gets that checked out. I had an major light sensitivity due to some medication this prick doctor was over prescribing to me. Hopefully, Lorenzo see a doctor and finds out what the problem. But having to wear shades because you can't see the sun through the shades, f-cking sucks!
He shouldn't play at all. It'll be delusional to think this won't happen to him again and next time it might be worst. Sent from my LG-LS720 using Tapatalk
Alpha male, aka stubborn. Football is just a damn sport. His health is more important and if he was smart, assuming he always had this thing happen to him and its gotten worse, he'll leave the sport. Idk his age but he can make it big elsewhere if his goal is to be rich. Sent from my LG-LS720 using Tapatalk
I never played any team sports growing up, and I have gotten very harsh migraines thru my life. I actually had one last week. I've only had 1 concussion in my life, granted a bad one, but still.
The assumption a lot of people seem to be making here is that he's only playing for the money, but the kid probably loves playing football and has dreamed of playing in the NFL. It's very tough to give up on your dreams, especially when they're on the verge of coming true. Also, football is probably the only thing he knows and it gave him structure when he came from an awful home life. The NFL now takes concussions very seriously and Woody has always genuinely cared about his players. I don't see the Jets OKing him to play unless its safe for him to do so. I'm sure the Jets will do right by him.
Now this sounds absolutely terrible. Maybe his shelf-life is sealed. It could be about as long as 2-5 years, counting this year. I recall this RB named Terrell Davis, with same symptoms. [Migraines, sensitivity to light - you name it.] He didn't last long in this league. Jesus - FUCK YOU, UNIVERSE.
Those symptoms make me wonder if this wasn't caused by a series of more minor concussions in the past. As much as I'd love to see his story end in a long illustrious NFL career, I kinda feel like they should give him a CAT scan or some other method of determining how many more hits he can/should take. If he suits up for the Eagles I think I'll be a bit nervous wether or not he plays well.
I hear what you're saying. Especially coming from his hard circumstances, he may view the money more important. I don't remember if he has younger siblings or has children, but he could also decide to risk it to provide for them. I just hope he'll be ok. He deserves to have his health and a good rest of his life.
Nahh Terrell Davis retired cause of ACL/MCL/Foot Injuries that robbed him off his pace... But I do get your concern...that hit that concussed Mauldin was very mild frankly I really did not see a hit... Hopefully it was just a freak injury....god forbid it's not a reggie lewis type sign of future trouble...or a less scary Jalen Saunders type....
I can see the concern but it's ridiculous to go by a tweet of somebody saying he's got migraines and then to paint this end of the world picture like he's gonna die the next time he laces up his cleats. He was in the hospital for a full day, one day, before they kicked him out. We have among the best medical staffs in the country, they're checking him out, they gave him their thumbs up, he's already back on the field. So let's stop overreacting, we don't know a single thing about him or his medical history except for that tweet. I'm sure the hospital and our medical staff is a little more professional and did a little more digging there to make sure he's OK. Don't get me wrong, the only thing that counts is his health. But you'd have to be crazy to think our staff, the hospital etc. would clear him if they knew something was wrong with him or if they saw something that would put his future at risk. At this point we just have to assume he's perfectly fine otherwise he'd still be in the hospital, otherwise the staff would have advised him to quit, otherwise he wouldn't be back on the field again. Let's have some faith in our own medical staff.
He a grown ass man if he wants to keep playing let him play. The hell with all this retire talk. Everybody knows when they step on that field they could get seriously hurt.
Here's more, encouraging news but they will definitely keep an eye on him: http://www.newsday.com/sports/footb...t-after-recovering-from-concussion-1.10883389 A week and a half later, Mauldin is hoping he'll be able to play Sunday against the Eagles. Although he did not practice on Wednesday, he was on the field wearing his helmet. "I'm back to myself, normal," he said. "One hundred percent." ... Mauldin said he's suffered from migraines and sensitivity to light for several years and takes medication for it. From now on, he said he'll wear tinted contact lenses on game day. "I came to in the hospital ," he said. "I was told what happened. They said I took two steps and fell back down after I tried to get up. But I don't remember any of that, either. The only thing I can worry about right now is how I can get better and get back on the field."
I actually thought somebody fell or sat on his head while he was down. He seems to think he took a shot in the jaw.
lots of people get migraines all the time and that in itself isn't serious but you have to hope they ran all the prescribed tests to make sure they aren't being caused by something else that is serious while he was in the hospital.
I hate to be that guy but if there was something career threatening here, I doubt the medical staff would allow him anywhere near the football field. I'm going to trust their instincts on this...
