Why? Is it solely because of Brady and Gronkowski in your opinion? Keep in mind, we've barely seen what the Jets can do. Not to mention, Sheldon hasn't even played yet. That should play a BIG impact when he comes back.

Score an early TD, hit Brady a couple of times early on, let Fear of Losing to the Jets do them in. That's what worked for Rex the first couple of years.

    1. Keep Brady off the field, aka run the ball.

    Thats it.

I watched the game in its entirety actually. The Pats weren't trying to run up the score as much as they didn't want to deviate from their game plan offensively which was just masterful in killing the bills. but that was offensively and has nothing to do with the defense and your initial, general take about them giving up 53 points - - which includes a completely meaningless TD with 2 secs left against Pittsburgh and 3 4th Quarter TDs to Buffalo where they were set back quite a bit enjoying their big lead

Run the ball control time of possession, keep Brady off the field.

How did the Jets hold Brady to 20 of 37 with the Jets D last year in NE last year?

C Ivory put up a c-note against the pats D

and hell even Geno looked decent.

    Pats D ain't scary.

Someone else on here called that duo '1 & 1a'. It is the truth. We know they cheat, but they also have a monster TE (I think he is part machine/cyborg.. incredible how quickly they were able to rebuild his knee) steroids are a miracle.

God forbid something happen to Gronk again... but the Pats live or die by the health of their 1 and 1a ...(and spying, deflated/doctored footballs, side deal contracts, paying players and staff under the table, confidentiality arrangements/affidavits and other forms of nefarious cheating).

The Giants wrote the blueprint in the Super Bowl, but that was before Gronk was an issue. It's got to be pressure, pressure and more pressure from different places. Even then, the pressure better get there because they run the underneath stuff better than anybody else. Throw in the crossing patterns that are nothing more than 8 yard passes that turn into big gainers and are brutal to defend. Being that Bowles still has the element of surprise with his packages should help. The ship has sailed for Rex and his non-exotic blitzes against the Pats, so hopefully TB can devise and replicate a way to harass Brady enough that he gets frustrated. Got to control the LOS and allow Ivory/Powell to pound it and hopefully limit the amount of touches Brady has. Having said all of that, it must be taken into account that Fitz has to play mistake-free and that is asking for an awful lot to go right...

Hit Gronk at the line all day. knock the timing off. Our front four need to tee off on Brady. He isn't the same once he has taken a shot or two. RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN. Their run d looked only ok yesterday and keeping their offence off the field i HUGE.

It was really surprising to see the Bills stacked D-line get stopped by the Pats suspicious O-line. A bunch of rookies and journey men. I get how they destroyed the Bills by the dink and dunk passes, but can anyone explain how the Bills never really got past the line?

they never got past the line because Brady was completing passes before they could get out of their stances

To drop over 500 yards on that Bills defense was pretty impressive. Nobody wants anything to do with the Patriots right now, they look far and away the team to beat in the NFL this year, hate to say it, but their odds of repeating SB champs are pretty good. No one in the AFC is in their league, maybe the Packers can beat them in a SB?

But of course that's right now, week 2, a lot can happen between then and now with injuries and other unforeseen circumstances.

Which is why the Jets need to disrupt the timing of the Patriots offense.

    1 - Jam all receivers / TEs
    2 - Get interior pressure
3 - Hit Brady a few times early and often
4 - Contain the middle of the field using DeMario and Calvin Pryor. Skrine you can throw on Gronk if need be.

Gronk has been running wild and un-touched on a lot of his plays, the one that comes to mind is the Steelers game where they had Gronk run down the field freaking un-touched.

Gronk needs to be hit on each and every play. He's a big guy, but still try and make him pay.

I'd have Skrine mirror Edelman all over the field. Put Revis on Gronk and dare them to run with nickel and dime all game.

Put Revis on Gronk and a combo of Williams/Skrine on Edelman. Cro will probably be back by then and he can face off on Dobson or whoever is on the outside. It's probably our best chance....our only chance
