I seriously missed 3rd and 15 draw calls from [GULP!!] Paul fucking Hackett for the past few years. I mean that - and you KNOW that in itself is an achievement for the franchise in futility. On their way down to the gutter? [I am thinking, you were looking for sync.]
plus bowles does not go on and on at press conferences about players like clyde gates, garrett mcintyre, dexter mcdougle, etc. the way rex did.
Oline our starting Guards, Carpenter and Colon really impressed (and pleasantly surprised me).. i doubted the Carpenter signing, but i was clearly wrong. he's been the real deal, and will finally free up Mangold and D'brick. Run blocking especially has been good, as he's been a better fit in Gailey's scheme than in Seattle. Colon has quietly been having an excellent camp/preseason. Not one penalty, not one sack, not even so much as a QB Hurry so far. and he's still bringing a nasty physical presence to the line. of course this board will erupt with overreaction when he finally gets a flag......lol, but he's completely earned that starting spot. Breno i couldn't stand all of last year. felt he was the weak link on the line. but so far so good. he hasn't excelled by any means, but he has also hasn't screwed up, so that's improvement. i'll take that for now, as there is no other option at RT. Qvale showed promise and versatility, but he's not quite ready unfortunately. Mac it's early yet, but Mac handled this draft and FA as well as i could have hoped for. i love the scouting background, and the scouting approach overhaul he's bringing to the organization. best i've probably ever felt about one of our GM's.
yep. and while i had hopes for Owusu heading into the season, he's surpassed every expectation. guy is a legit starter who we need to get on the field. just hope for the Jets sake, and Owusu's sake, that the concussions stay at bay. it sucks to find a gem, but knowing his career can be over on any moment.
Marshall looked great compared to what I saw last season. Ivory also looks a lot faster and better in the passing game.
First the first time in a very long time it felt good to watch a Jets game be it pre-season and not be thinking OK here comes an Int. Cant wait for all the starters to be on the field for the 1St game and let the doors of Hell open up with our defense -- Yeah Bart Scott.
Last night: Good- Flynn, Powell, Owusu (horrible as a KR though), Johnson (QB), Johnson (C), Stacey, Richardson Bad- Quigley, Quigley, Quigley, Folk, Enunwa, Qvale...did I forget to mention Brett Quigley?
the most impressive thing to me, by far, was seeing a competent offense drive the ball down the field pretty consistently. fitz clearly knows this offense, and like a lot of posters have already said, he does all the little things like check down properly and throw the screen ,which we really havent seen in years. our line actually looks quite good, which is also shocking because i had extremely low expectations in that department. its giving our qb's protection that they havent had over the last 2 seasons, and its allowing us to pound the rock to lead into a quality and efficient passing attack. i really hope this continues
The whole team looks faster to me. It's like they removed lead boots the moment Rex left the building.
Well. I think we're going to see some of that kind of action this year. The Jets want to score 20+ points on offense and not turn the ball over much. With those expectations it makes sense not to take chances on 3rd and long unless the game is on the line.
Carpenter for sure. I thought that was a terrible signing at the time. Guy looks really good out there.
I can agree with this one...BIG time! I really am at a loss for how dumb some people really are...quite amazing actually.
Having said that negative nugget...I am quite pleased with Chan Gailey...for a change, our O looks like an...O. I don't feel like when they come on the field it's going to be a god awful mess. I look forward to TD's as opposed to turnovers...what a change.
