Looks like we don't need a RB anymore, he is the real deal. Nice effort from Barlow too but he better not be starting again next week.

That says it all. This guy is the franchise back for this team, period. Mix him up with Cedric Houston when he is healthy, and our running game will be unstoppable. I'm buying a Leon Washington jersey.

    Whoa whoa whoa, hold up.

He is a good running back, but lets wait a few weeks before we say franchise back.

While I am certainly impressed with his performance today, I wouldn't go so far as to say he's the new franchise back.

I love Leon but his size cannot hold up to 20 plus carries week after week. In college he had injury issues. Lets just take a deep breath

Very solid effort for Leon. There are always going to be nay sayers. The idiots doing the broadcast attributed everything to Shaun Rodgers being out. Week in and week out, there is always a reason why the Jets running game, or a particular running back is not the real deal!

Leon has all of the capabilities to be the franchise back that I, and others had envisioned; however, the NFL is all about being consistent. After the season, we will know for sure where the future of our team lies in terms of our running back.

Personally, I stick with what I had thought all along, we have the running back to take us into the future in Leon. We also know that the coaching staff is the ultimate arbitor of what will happen in the draft/free agency. I expect to come on in a few weeks and say that the passing of the torch has been completed- Before the draft!

Am I the only one who loves Leon but does not see him as the main guy or franchise? Didnt anyone see him wear down and get hurt at FSU?

don't think he could handle the load by himself, but paired with a north to south type runner, which he is (barlow), he's definitely a big time player

He's going to be a key factor in this offense for years to come. I could really care a lot less about people saying he is or isn't a franchise back, you need a lot of weapons to build a Super Bowl caliber offense, and he is most certainly a weapon.

What is your defintion of wearing down? He had an elbow injury on the opening punt return against NC in the first game of his sophomore season (Is that wearing down or a fluke injury?); he had hurt his shoulder from the way he had fallen and had missed time for that (Is that an example of wearing down?); he had an ankle injury in which he had played with; he also had a deep thigh bruise which was something that slowed him down.

Wearing down is getting the ball consistently, and eventually showing wear and tear or obvious signs of slowing down. Getting injuries on the 1st or 5th carry isn't a demostration of wearing down! How ironic that these college players made him miss games and these pro's can't do it. This is the most consitstently he has gotten the ball and still has not been injured or has not fumbled (Another knock against him coming out of FSU).... I can tell that you would not have bought Microsoft stock in the 80's! Buy into Leon, trust me, you will be rewarded

Should flukish injuries be an indictment of how a player may really hold up? Looks like C-Mart had a flukish injury with his abdomin which required surgery and no one has complained about his durability. How 'bout the knee injury that kept him from being a 2nd rounder?

Leon Washington: 20 Carries, 129 yards... thats a 6.45 avg.

Pair that up with a big, bruising, North-South runner (whether it be Houston or Barlow), and I think that we could have a potent running game

I don't know if he can hold up, but didn't the announcers compare him to Barry Sanders during the telecast? ?????

He can be like Tiki Barber, and if we use him and Barlow - we showed today we can have a running game.

Though I'm not about to anoint this kid as our coming savior... I do like what I see when he has the ball. Now what I really would like to see is what this kid can do after a year in our off-season program. Depending on how much weight they can put on him without reducing his speed, he could be one hell of a third down back if not the featured RB. Right now, I'm afraid that he's just a little too small.

The biggest problem going into this year was the running back situation, and we have definately got it solved. Wasington could definately be our starter for a while and we have houston and barlow to mix it up with. Leon's open-field speed is great and he moves quick through his blockers, but we still have to see how consistent he wil be against better teams.

Thinking about it he could be an early favorite for offensive ROY, other than Colston I don't think he really has much competition
