I was at Jets training camp today to scout the team: QB: Fitz-Not a good day for Fitzy. Cromartie got him for a pick 6 and he also almost got picked by Marcus Williams. He did have a great throw to Chris Owusu that traveled about 40 yes in the air. Fitz hopefully is one of those guys who looks better on Sunday than during the week. His ball really hangs up there on those sideline throws. Petty-The kid has a laser right arm and looked very sharp today Flynn-Didn't practice Heaps-Was signing autographs for fans who didn't know who he was HB Ivory, Powell, and Stacy getting all the reps. Richardson is in trouble. WR/TE Owusu is very impressive. He turned Revis into burn toast on a 40 yd TD. Getting a lot of time with the 1st team and could be supplanting Kerley. I'm guessing Devin Smith goes on PUP and we do with Marshall, Decker, Owusu, Kerley, Posey, and Powell. Marshall was fantastic today! Great to finally see him live. Decker struggled big time today-Saw him working with Fitz on the side after practice. OL-Seemed to be giving Fitz some good protection. Gailey runs an absurd amount of screens DL-Mo Wilkerson back at practice. Leonard Williams is an absolute beast and had a would be sack on Fitz. LB-Players weren't in full pads so hard to get a feel. Trevor Reily getting first team reps with Mauldin and Pace out. Secondary-Good day for the secondary outside of a long pass against Revis from Owusu and another against Marcus Williams by TJ Graham. I love all of the good stuff I keep hearing about Owusu. WR could end up being one of our deepest positions this year.
Thanks for the post. Wish I could have attended one of these this year., Good to read a fan's perspective who doesn't seem too off the fuckin rails. Many of us fans are like that this time of year just waiting for week one to come, but others take it to a level of spitting vitriol for no good reason.
Devin Smith will not go on the PUP...he's not even eligible. And D. Richardson is not getting reps today because he's out with a concussion. I like Stacy better but I believe Richardson was the 3rd back against the Falcons and played special teams. Maybe that means something and maybe it doesn't.
Richardson looked like crap against ATL though, Stacy looked decent. I bet their playing time against NYG gets adjusted.
Did you watch last years Miami game? Guy was a freak of nature. As depressed as I was watching the finish to that abomination of a season, Owusu was a bright spot. I was laughing at the how good this guy was out of nowhere. I said who is this guy and where did he come from? It was like they were signing people off of the street we were so bad.
He always had talent just can never stay healthy. Hopefully he stays healthy from this point forward.
The last game of the season? I had already said a big FUCK YOU to the Jets and didn't watch. Maybe I'll download it.
I don't blame you, but he torched the Dolphins, who oddly looked like they straight up gave up trying that week. I wonder if they don't like Joe Philbin down there.
i like that screen passes might be back. sanchez was incapable of throwing them, and we simply never called them last year
Just finished reading my crystal ball. Mark this down fellow TGG members. Next year B Petty will be our starting QB and we will never look back. This year we will fight for a playoff spot and many young studs in the defense and offense will be featured as the nucleolus of better things to come. Owasu, Maulding, Williams, Smith and even Petty ( holding the clipboard and soaking it all in) just to name a few. 2015 will also become a pivotal decision making time for Amaro. Milliner, Richardson and a few members of the OL as we continue to build on the young talent. Geno will came back and set the stage on fire making it difficult for Petty to be anointed. Its either swim or sink for some and an exciting time for us Jets fans.
Saw the game and thought the same thing. Which is why I had a problem with Rex not giving other players a chance to shine.
You might be right, who knows. But you have to agree it will be an interesting year for us, with some bright hope for the future for a change.
