Are you serious? It was a death, family and friends should always come first. I have no problem with that at all. Geno was doing HIM a favor, don't take it out of context. Geno owed IK nothing in all reality but apparently opted to reimburse IK anyway, even though I don't believe he even had to do that. Do you really think Geno was the one the seeked out IK, that instagated it all? Really? That makes zero sense. Nobody that allegedly owes someone money is going to go out of their way to confront someone because THEY owe the money and haven't paid them yet. IK was the one who was apparently owed money by agreement. Stands to reason, IK was the one instigating and initializing it from jump street in an attempt to obtain what he felt was owed to him. Geno I'm sure wasn't some saint in this situation but to act like the guy was the fucking wrong doer in this scenario is stupid. People get emotional, yeah its annoying but that's the further that goes, when you have a dumbass actually get violent and break someone's jaw, he should be in jail and without a job. The lack of sympathy for Geno is one thing, but acting like Geno is to blame for the major consequences to his health and this team is moronic. He didn't break his own jaw. The guy without any consequence and the new team did. I can not believe how little people care about the actual guy who committed an act of violence, and how much people want to point the finger at the guy who never threw a punch, had his jaw broke, just had surgery, lost his job, and is now recovering for a lengthy amount of time. All while being consistently ridiculed by the media, peers, and fans. What is happening to IK? Oh, nothing? Right. If anything this incident helped IK and his popularity level. I'm sorry but its shit like this that has me losing hope in humanity.
Whether it was a death or a hospital visit I have yet to see any evidence that the event ever happened. For all we know Geno blew off the camp and gave a BS excuse. Even if there was a legitimate reason, making a lousy phone call was the least he could have done.
Harking back to Geno's drafting... Remember that "I'm going home" moment when he was so butt hurt he wasn't taken in the first round? That's exhibit A-Z for me that he just doesn't have the inherit leadership qualities a NFL starting QB has to have. Plus, his on the field decision are awful. Then, this latest episode. He's, at best, a 3rd string clipboard holding camp arm. I agree, punch him again.
We don't know what information is being passed behind the scenes. He could've received all of the information and made the assessment himself along with the physician I understand your point, but we will see in a few weeks where Geno is.
You're being a bit over dramatic here, but your point is fair enough. As I tell my kids, the only reason to hit someone is because they hit you first. It doesn't matter how aggrieved you feel about what has gone on previously, you don't throw the first punch. You're always in the wrong if you do.
Who gives a shit? He doesn't need to explain himself, its his life, he didn't have to do anything for IK. It wasn't mandatory, it wasn't something that was detrimental to IK's future or well being. It was a benefit. Do you know why people hold benefits? To do good, to help others. So you would think, someone who was looking to do good and help others would fucking understand if a guy had other things he had or wanted to do instead. This argument is extremely weak, especially if it is true about a death being the reason. That takes priority over anything else, phone call is not needed at that point, handle your business type deal, IK shouldve understood that. I have had a death in my family that took precedence over my work obligations in the past. I don't regret it and I would've done the same if I had to go through that awful experience ever again. Guess what, when I did have time to contact my employer, they understood. Wow, go figure I guess.
Hate for Geno is understandable...... Love for Geno and his turnover parade and lack of leadership is what's funny......
Yeah I get that but I can't imagine Geno's dr is passing info to this NFL expert, I'm guessing this guy is guessing--educated for sure--based upon his experience. If Geno's doctor thought he'd be ready by week 1, I'd have to imagine we'll here it from the horses mouth--either Geno, the Jets or Geno's doctor (with Geno's blessing). _
I think Week 1 was pushing it. Before, I would say no way does he come back before the BYE, now if this guy's prognosis is correct I would say week 3 or week 4.
The 'offensive' personnel, 'commitment' to offense and 'protection', over the last 2 seasons, is what is really funny
I am thinking he plays week 5. That would be 9 weeks and would give a week to adjust. Same scenario i had for fitz if geno never got hit
I'm assuming you mean week 6, as week 5 is the bye week after the Miami London game. Suppose the Jets are 2-2 at that point. Wins vs. Cleveland & Miami where Fitzpatrick looked decent, nothing special but he moved the offense and got a TD or 2. Losses @ Indy and Vs. Philly where maybe Fitzpatrick made a mistake or 2 but it was obvious that that wasn't really the reason they lost. Would you let that ride out or really pull the trigger and start Geno Smith week 6 vs. Washington? Idk.. .IMO that would be tough to take Fitzpatrick out and that was a very modest, real proposal for how he could look. I'd stick with fitzpatrick myself if it plays out that way.
Geno is a lightweight. Petty, self-centered, and apparently cheap. nOt leadership qualities. The team does not care that he is gone. That is telling
You're drawing conclusions on the incident based on assumptions. We can only go by what is reported. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...rce-says-broken-jawed-geno-smith-deserved-it/ http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...mith-out-610-weeks-after-being-punched-in-jaw http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13416881/geno-smith-new-york-jets-6-10-weeks-broken-jaw You think what you want. But look deeper into the situation. I'm not sure why you feel the need to defend him to the end, but it's obvious that it seems like all you needed to read was the headline and you were ready to defend him. The entire team should be embarassed. Both of them being responsible means the quarterback, the leader, the field general, needs to be the bigger man. I'm embarassed as a fan of this franchise I can only imagine what the fans feel like. This stuff happens in NFL locker rooms but NEVER with quarterbacks. We're the only team that could muster up that headline with our starting QB.
Yea week 6 game 5. My mistake. in your scenario i insert geno for week 6. i have seen the floor of the qb situation i am 2-2, i can afford a game or 2 while its still relatively early. Worst case scenario is 2-4 but i know what needs to be done moving forward.
The man only been in the league 2 years. Want to go back and look at some of the great QB's record the first 2 years?
