This x10000!!! I feel like we do this every year. The team looks like crap, we hear the excuses ("it's only pre-season", "it's a vanilla defense", "no game planning"), then the season comes and what do you know!? Still garbage. Can't overreact but there's nothing encouraging here
I'm not trying to jump to any conclusions and surely a lot will change before week 1. However, fair or not, Bowles is under the microscope and this team looks lathargic.
1. The full D wasn't playing the full game 2. They didn't give it their all 3. Bowles isn't going to reveal his best defensive plays in week 1 of the preseason 4. Tackles and hits didn't stick tonight which was dissapointing, but can be rectified.

After what happened 2 days ago, did any of you seriously think the Jets would play worth a crap tonight? Seriously? They're all still probably reeling in a state of shock and had little emotion or energy. Fitz had no time to get in sync with the receivers. Normally I'd say I can't believe some of the comments I'm seeing, but after the crap I've seen here the last 2 days, I'm not shocked at all, but rather disgusted and wish some of you would find new teams to root for.
Preseason games mean very little. However, I will say what I've always been saying. Tonight wouldn't have changed my mind on this either way: This defense isn't top 5. It may not even be top 10. Cromartie is not as good as everybody thinks. Calvin Pryor has proved absolutely nothing so far and his play has been worse than in Milliner's rookie year. Gilchrist was the Kyle Wilson of the chargers last year. Skrine is one of the most penalized CBs in the league. David Harris is terrible in coverage (as well as the rest of the LB corp). Everyone saying this is the best secondary when the safeties are some of the worst in the league and the corner opposite Revis has mightily struggled. I urge you to take a look again at CRO's "Good" year last year in ARI. He had a couple of passes thrown his way which he caught...he was not good in coverage.

Here is the problem with your logic. Defense has been fantastic for two straight years stopping the run and last year did a nice job of getting to the QB. I understand Richardson and Wilkerson. Our secondary may be overrated but it is sure better than last years. What I saw today was a rookie head coach who did not have his team ready to play. This looks like a 4-12 team still. You mean to tell me a rookie head coach, who never had an elite defense in his short career as DC, and a rookie DC, with a bunch of JAG LBs didn't look good? NO WAY! Look at my post history, circa when Revis was traded away. I called Idzik was a joke back then, but you had cats like Bradwaysux claiming he was "building it the right way". LOL. Probably the worst GM tenure of all time.
