Putting aside that Fitz is coming back from injury, on what do you base this conclusion, as if it is obvious and beyond question? Bowles himself said he wondered if the db's can catch, referring to dropped balls that would have been interceptoins, and Smith proceeded to throw two pick sixes yesterday in 25 pass attempts. I understand you want to feel good in your pre-season optimism, but Smith sucks until proven otherwise.
Look at the work he's put in during the off-season prior to training camp, the work he's put in with Decker and Marshall. He's been able to make plays on Cro and Revis, including during the scrimmage. Fitzpatrick also threw interceptions yesterday, so what is your point? I don't understand why you would slam Geno, and not Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick appears to be healthy, maybe not 100%, but every writer that has been at TC has seen major improvement in Geno and all believe he's the best QB so far. I would give him a 2 game audition to see what he has during the regular season. I don't have major optimism, but I want to see if Geno has truly improved, I also believe due to the issue on the line he's the best QB to trout out on week 1 due to his ability to scramble.
Ftr I have posted several times that Fitzpatrick has been underwhelming, and that is a big problem. I just don't see any evidence of major improvement in Smith. It's probably best to not get caught up in the day to day hype on this particular subject, but it was noteworthy that he threw two pick sixes yesterday. Part of his problem is his bad throws seem to come in groupings, suggesting an attitude problem. Anyway, I am going to try and put this analysis aside until we see Smith up against real competition.
I think if you observed each training camp; you would clearly see there has been improvement in regards to Smith. I completely disagree about his attitude, watch the post-green and white scrimmage interview with Smith and think about that again. The guy has matured; we will see how his performance is come regular season, but I think he's done a decent job this off-season so far trying to get better. He's actually showing accountability for his actions, which is something he didn't do last year. Here's the link, watch it when you get a chance - http://thejetsblog.com/nyjets/jets-nation-confident-geno-on-camp/ I see a QB that has matured and is now holding himself accountable. Now let's see what happens after the first 2 games of the regular season. We will have a good idea of what's going on. This could all blow up, or this could go really well. It's too early to tell, I agree but he's been the best QB in TC.
4 games. I don't care about the record of the team, but how the team responds to Geno. IMO, Geno has 4 games to show major improvement in accuracy (at least 62%) and protecting the football (no more than 4 turnovers in 4 games . . . I'm not including a late int on a hailmary though.) * Also not taking sacks and putting us out of FG range. (I hate that shit) If he can keep that chains moving and limit TO's we have a shot with this D. More can be expected later in the season and over time, but right now he's expected to just be consistently competent.
That's cool.. It's not like I'm lying for him.. It's true he's always had thick skin. And he told one probably asshole jets fan to go fuck his self... Wwwwwwwwwwooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww....
I hated when he drops back to far lol he definitely has to learn how to live for another play without trying to do way too much .. Just take the sack
I agree with everything you say but we got better coaches. Our HC has not proven anything so far so there no way you can say that.
Gailey is a better fit for Geno compared to Marty and his WCO. I think Bowles is really preaching accountability and I really like that about him. Rex appeared to regress as he continued his tenure here, so I am glad we got Mac and Bowles here in comparison to Rex and Idzik.
I was here when L.A. had two teams. Even the coke addled Raider cheerleader I used to bang couldn't sway me. What a ridiculous question. But I will explain my avatar. I originally used a nice Neimann painting of JWN walking off the field with his head hung low. But somebody else rightfully claimed they had used it first, so I switched to this current one. Like Joe, I'm spending the twilight of my career in Los Angeles. See what a great guy I am?
