It would be such an underrated boost to this team if one of these guys could step up and show some playmaking ability on punt returns. I feel like this doesn't get talked about enough.
Buster Skrine on outside, Marcus Williams in nickel with 1s. Evans with a leaping grab over Revis in 11-on-11. Nice adjustment in the air. Geno with the throw. Buster Skrine for Antonio Cromartie at CB in team drills.
Pryor with a nice PD in team. Geno opened the session up, going long to Shaq up the right sideline. No pads today - have to reiterate that. Rontez Miles again getting reps with 2s and 3s at S with Antonio Allen out. Dee Milliner is here at practice. Arm wrapped in cast and in sling. Even though he's not in pads, he's standing right by Revis
Darrin Walls again getting some third-team safety reps. Also running with 2s at CB. IK just made Charles Brown look silly for a would-be sack on Fitz. Came right around the outside. WR Austin Hill starting to make some plays. Had a good practice Saturday night and just made two nice grabs during 11-on-11.
If he actually wrote about football sometime he wouldn't need quotes. Guess you can't expect much from him, the Daily News is a tabloid not a sports forum.
Enuwa quietly having a nice day, looks like he's making the most of his opportunity. Enunwa sighting: Diving catch made by receiver in red zone just short of GL. Full extension
Well, well. Two camp bodies making plays. Jonathon Rumph, a rookie out of Georgia, had a couple of TDs in red zone work. And new CB Keon Lyn just had a sick pick. POD?
Can't wait to see him in the preseason. He'll dish out plenty of punishment. Rontez Miles has had a very solid camp. Kid was always a thumper but is growing technique-wise.
With Owusu down and Decker resting, Enunwa has taken advantage. He's been active working with 1st team today.
2 picks for Geno today, everyone looks like shit, no effort from either side of the ball. Bowles was mad so he made everyone run gassers in the middle of practice. We're officially out of the portion of camp where players are glad to be back and into the portion where they just want to play.
And the streak is over: Geno Smith throws his first INT of camp. Of course it was a pick 6, Marcus Williams. The entire team is running. Something tells me Todd Bowles is not happy with practice today.
Sheldon is running with the first team in two-minute drill. First play a sack on Geno by Coples. Second play nice PD by Pryor. 2-minute drill: Gilchrist just missed an INT of Geno...who tried to hit Enunwa over the middle. Secondary jumping routes today.
Jets first offense in two-minute drill ends on a Geno sack on 4th & 16. Maudlin, in with the first team, got around Breno. Geno Smith-led offense runs 7 plays in two-minute drill - 3 incompletions, 2 sacks. Sloppy day. No boos, though (closed practice).
1st Defense making a bunch of plays in team. Lorenzo Mauldin in on a pair of rushes, DD comes unblocked and Pryor with a nice PD. Geno Smith throws another INT. This time, Darrelle Revis got him -- another pick 6. In goal line, Marshall scores on Skrine. He's near impossible to stop on that goal line slant. He's just too powerful, can't get a jam.
Can't have this inconsistency. He either does good or he's flat out terrible. And usually it's just one bad throw or a turnover and suddenly he's garbage for the rest of the day. That's the difference between good and bad QB's. Good QB's bounce back, he has to prove that now. They don't melt down and cost their teams wins.
