    Goddamn this goddamned salary cap.

We finally get some good players on this team and we have to let one of them go. These monster contracts that shit teams with loads of cap space can pay are screwing up the whole game.

Lately Sheldon has been opening his mouth more than he should be, I see him holding out as Revis did a couple of years ago but unlike him, he's going to spit shit until he gets the deal he wants. I love him on the field but I've come to realize I'm probably going to hate him outside of it come 2017 or earlier.

I can't stand these players who are so mouthy about salaries.

Do your job and then you get paid. Mo actually has not been as vocal, Shelden talks so much shit

This is what happens when you have a shit QB running a shit offense that depends on the defense to win the game. Get a legit QB and all this me, me, me shit goes away.

Funny how within 3 months of Mevi$ signing, 2 D players started to openly complain about their contracts and threaten holding out.
    Pure coincidence, naturally.

Damned, as much as I like Sheldon on the field I think his mouth is even more dangerous than his inside move.

So one could only hope that this year we don't have to continue to overly inflate the ego of the defensive line, treating them like season saviors predominantly because the rest of the team sucked. May be, just may be, Sheldon can stand on the sideline a lot more this season, hopefully not calling stupid time outs, and watch the offense score points instead of GIVING POINTS due to untimely turn overs and interceptions.

FURTHER, I am hoping that within a year, two max, Williams actually manages to outshine the shit out of Sheldon making him wonder how comfortable he would find himself being traded to Minnessota where the sound of his mouth would be attenuated by the bitter cold and the absolute lack of media attention.
This will end when we have a real QB at the helm and everyone else will have to accept the fact that as good as they might be, they will never be.....the guy.

I can see Sheldon being a true duel-threat player - being a major PITA for the team he plays for and for the teams he plays against...

We were going to lose one eventually anyway. It makes no sense at all to have 3 All-Pro caliber defensive ends in a base 3-4. I don't care about all the nickel and dime packages that we will have where we use all 3 of them because in the end it's a premium that we won't be able to afford. If we do sign Wilk which I hope we do Snacks is almost guaranteed to be gone next year, which in a 3-4 is a big deal. If Mo signs and Snacks somehow returns we will have to cut loose someone like Cro or D-Brick or maybe both, and those 2 guys are just examples they could be anyone else. If that happens the odds of signing Sheldon become slimmer. If we manage to still have all of them Williams won't get paid when he's due.

First, NO one deserves that much money. Second, Wilkerson is smoking crack if he thinks, he is even close to Suh good. I say trade Wilkerson for a next year 2nd round and a 2017 1st round pick. That should be easy to get done, and Buffalo who did not get a 1st round pick this year would not want to trade the 2016 1st round, but they might be willing to give up one further in the future.

In truth, a 2016 2nd and 2017 1st are equal to two 2016 2nd round picks. Logic dictates, for every year you put off a pick in compensation, it goes up one round. There are a dozen teams that would give up two 2nd round picks for Wilkerson, probably six teams that would give up a 1st rounder in 2016.

If we can't get a 1st and 2nd for him, just keep him. We have him for this year and can franchise him for two more years. By then we can let him go since we will have to be resigning Richardson and Williams.

Blame the CBA, the greedy owners and the weak NFLPA. The economics in the NFL are so screwed up. There's no loyalty to the players so it's hard to argue with guys wanting big money while they can cash in.

You aren't seriously considering trading an all pro player to a divisional rival/former HC are you?

Not for nothing but this team is living up to the 'undisciplined' image. Between Cro and Richardson mouthing off its getting old already.
One can only hope Bowles changes the locker room culture.

While I think Sheldon will ultimately be the better of the two on the field I think Mo will end up being more loyal to the team despite the fact that he is whining about his contract at present.

Unless they really want to play with each other it will be difficult to keep both of them.

It's not the fault of the players, it's the teams giving so much for one player. I don't have a problem with players getting as much money as possible, cause nothing is guaranteed in the nfl. Imagine what the owners make a year and compare it to the total costs to run a team, then we'll know if the salary cap is fair or not. If it's not even close, give the players what they are worth. It's as simple as that. We all know who pays for the increase in costs for each team anyway. It's the fans.

The Jets should just do what well-run teams do when a player is asking for unreasonable money ... trade them in the last year of their contract. Our problem is we wisely did it once (Revis), it worked out great (Richardson), and then our new idiot management brought the problem back. Oh by the way, we when we don't re-sign one (or both) of these guys, remember how much everyone danced around and praised our new GM when he vastly overpaid guys like Skrine and Gilchrist ... because that's where the Mo/Richardson money will have went.

Bingo. You reap what you sow; the new GM encouraged this (unintentionally, but he still did it).
