Nah your missing it, even though I hate the Yankees I certainly respect what they did in the mid 90's. They won the right way by building from within and signing vets who fit in with what they wanted to do. The got good players to buy into a philosophy and that's what made them champions. I don' t see that from the Mets FO. I see them trying to beat the Yankees in a way that has proven to be unsuccesful; by trying to bring in all stars at every position rather than acquiring hungry vets. This is why the Mets season will be a failure ...... NLCS = failure . Making it to the WS is the goal not getting beat by an average at best team with a bunch of triple A bullpen guys shutting you down.
The sad thing is that blown 3rd strike call on Pujols changed the complextion of the game and maybe the outcome.
I think that's a pretty unfair assessment, considering that the team won only 83 games last year. The Mets hardly have stars at every position. A little while ago you were saying they should have Milledge in there, and now you're talking about hungry vets. I would say Delgado, Lo Duca, and Valentin have been about as good as any vets could have ever been, and none of them were high profile stars. You could also have argued that Green was a hungry vet - just because he's been lousy, that doesn't mean that he wasn't hungry. The Mets signing Pedro was a brilliant move, so I can't believe you're talking about that, either. Presumably Duque was another hungry vet, although he's had so much success that you could have called him nonhungry. I think the Mets were a mediocre team last year, and are a very good team this year. They're not great, and in a short series, it's hardly such a surprise that you don't win, especially when you're not a great team.
I feel like I'm listening to a game on KMOX. I'm sure my deaf mute cousin would be a big time broadcaster if his dad was a legend too..... I'm sure that arrogant pric Joe Buck has a smile from ear to ear..... well Fox I hope your ready for anther WS that nobody is going to watch.
Well, I never thought the Cardinals could win two games in New York. I still think the Mets will win this series.
I'm not a Mets fan but I don't agree with that. It is going to be extremely difficult but I still think you guys have a chance these next two games. Carpenter will be tough but you hit him earlier in the series and Suppan is hittable.
That at bat is another one of the things that this horrible ump has caused - I'll bet Endy swung at that borderline high pitch because of the bogus strike called a pitch before. Only hope that the Shea crowd can be as intimidating to the home plate umpire tomorrow as apparently the Cardinal crowd has been tonight.
