I'd have no problem with Peat at #6 in the above scenario, I'd prefer to trade back and take him but if no trades were available I would't have a cow, he's a first round OT.
Add Jeremiah and Rappaport on their podcast to Peter King If Fowler, Cooper off board, Jets taking Peat
So far the Jets have been linked to Winston, Mariota, Fowler, Cooper, Gurley, and now Peat. They have been rumored to be trading up and rumored to be trading down. We have a new GM and a new coach and no one knows what the hell they are going to do. For once our draft is in good hands with smoke screens in every direction.
Why would there be a Peat smokescreen at 6? No one will trade up to get him I am truly worried (like others are) he will be the pick There are too many varied sources saying so
Just two days ago multiple sources had us taking Gurley at #6. With the latest rumors that the Dolphins are desperate for Gurley trading with the Saints to take him at #13 would be sweet. Peat has shown nothing that would have anyone believe that he is all that much better than Collins. Sheriff, Humphries, or Flowers. I just don't see anyone taking a lineman before pick #9.
I agree and I'm really happy that our new GM and New Head Coach are playing their cards close to their chests. Its great to see! Can't wait to see what they do when the draft starts.
Peat better not be the pick! (Edit: Oops, I just confused Peat and Collins when I first made this post haha...jumping around too much.)
That guy can play no doubt about it, he doesn't look like he gives up on the play. One hell of a motor. One thing I am noticing about Peat, does this guy ever drive people backwards? Nate isn't a huge guy ... the more I watch Peat, the more he does play like Brick though. Not all that aggressive to be honest.
I will say it again. I am fine if we trade down and take Peat in 9-15 range. But would be bad if we take him at 6. That would not appear to follow Mac feeling on best value at a pick regardless of position. I am concerned about chatter from Mehta, PKing, Jeremiah, and Rappaport on Jets and Peat even at 6
I don't see a role for Peat until Brick leaves the Jets (IF). Peat can't play RT, he can't play G because he's a poor run blocker.
I think they are saying Peat can play RT and Breno moves into guard with Carpenter When Brick is done, Peat goes to LT. What lends truth to this, who are the Jets backup tackles? Can any of them play LT?
