I'm not saying wins are just pencilled in, but from the looks of the schedule, we have a real chance to have a much better record than we thought going into the season. nobody has really even talked about curtis. i mean, he might be back....and if he comes back and plays 50% of what he is capable, that gives us more of a running game than we already have. it will be the freshest curtis has been this late in a season ever....if he comes back, and has some production, that bodes well for the jets. even if we dont finish as a 500 team, i think we can all say were excited about the future here. but i think our record is above 500, and the playoffs arent out of the realm of possibility when you look at the schedule.
what are we, on the team? im lookin at the schedule and i dont need to look one game at a time....im a fan.
yeah u can look ahead, but it's pointless. like you said, we're not on the team so pencilling in a "W" on your spreadsheet at home doesn't really give me any comfort. this team never beats the teams it's supposed to beat and unless you've been a fan for 5 seconds, they always find a way to break your heart.
thats the truest thing posted on this board. but the way the team has been competing, especially against indy and ne i think we have a chance to do some things. i just thought id share what i was thinking last night.
does it really matter? even if we make the playoffs, we have chance to do much of anything with the way our defense is playing. Even if we make the playoffs, we don't stand a chance against teams like indy, ne, jax, denver, pit, balt, san diego, cincy. Assuming we are the wildcard, which is all we have a chance to really be, the other 5 teams will be a combination of these 8. 9-7 and 10-6 doesnt guarantee playoffs either.. considering these teams.. san diego and devner will vie for a wildcard spot/division spot.. so will balt, pit, and cincy.. even if we hit 10-6, we might be out of the running with the lack of "mediocre" teams in the AFC now. There seems to be a lot of GOOD teams, and a lot of BAD teams. we're somewhere in the middle closer to the worse teams, but just coasting from an easy schedule and an OK offense.
I don't agree at all. We've already shown we can hang with NE & Indy. Look at Pittsburgh last year they found their rhythm and stormed through Cincy, Indy, and Denver. Look at us in 2004 no one gave us a chance to beat San Diego let alone hang with Pittsburgh. If CHad gets hot and are defense blitzes more I think we can hang with anyone home/road ...regular season ...playoffs... it doesn't matter!!!
With all of the talk of raiders going 0-16, i was joking with my father that the JETS will go into the last week of a cinderella type season needing a win to get into the playoffs. In classic Jets fasion we will lose by missing a last second FG, giving the Raiders their only win of the season. Please let me be wrong:grin:
