    1. Dante Fowler OLB
    2. Melvin Gordon RB (a) or Tevin Coleman RB (b)
    3. Bryce Petty QB (in my opinion, the best arm talent in the draft)
    4. Phillip Dorsett WR
    7. Ladarius Gunter CB
    7. Kyle Loomis P

I think you're undervaluing most of your picks.

Fowler will be a top 4 player.

Petty might get drafted to a team in late Rd 2 , like the Broncos.

Dorsett is at worst a mid 2nd to very late Rd 1.

You know it's funny. I would totally agree with you. But every year, I think the same thing cause of the mock world, and then low & behold, the values are all different come draft day. I could see Petty going anywhere from late 1 to early 3. I think if the QBs go early, then Fowler or Cooper could 'slip' to 6.

Gordon is definitely a pipe dream at 2 based on talent, but RBs have slipped recently. Tevin Coleman should be there as a backup. I'd even be cool with Tre Jackson or Jake Fisher there and take another RB (Ajayi or Duke Johnson) later.

And as for Dorsett, please keep in mind how many WRs are in that mid 2nd to late 1 tier. Some of them are going to slip. It is a deep WR class.

You make a valid point, players always seem to fall.

Dorsett's stock has been on the rise since Jan. He's the type of player that can make a difference with his speed and quickness, plus he runs solid routes. After the top 3 wide outs are gone, it's going to be interesting the next few WRs drafted....it will be based on team preference. I will have no issue if the Jets take Dorsett in Rd 2.

I agree. I think Dorsett fits the Jets great. I just feel if the Jets can somehow find a way to land Melvin Gordon with their 2nd pick (even moving up a tad), look out.

Your draft does give a great haul of talent to the offense, even after taking the best pass rusher in the draft. That would be awesome. There are definitely things I like about this draft, and if it weren't for a couple of things, I'd LOVE this draft.

I love the addition of Fowler if Mariota is gone. IMO there's no way Petty is a better prospect than Mariota, however. If you're taking Fowler and leaving Mariota on the board, then I'd have to give this draft a fail, even as much as I like both Fowler, Gordon and Dorsett and your 7th round picks. Petty looked awful in the Sr. Bowl, not great the Combine, and I think he IS a system QB who will struggle in the NFL. He doesn't have the football IQ or athleticism of Mariota, and I don't agree on the arm talent thing, either. The other thing that I don't like about this draft even after adding great talents like Fowler to the D and Gordon and Dorsett to the offense, is that I think the Jets are in "Must" situation in terms of finding Brick's replacement for next year. They need to find him this year and let him sit and learn or play OG or RT this season, so he will be ready to step in and play next year. You don't want a rookie LT protecting your QB's blind side. This would be even more true of the Jets did take Mariota or Petty. You don't want your new potential franchise QB being protected by a rookie. Brick's play has been deteriorating too badly and he is due $17 million next year. There's no way the Jets can or should pay him that much, I can't see him taking a huge pay cut, nor would I want him protecting Mariota's or Petty's blind side.

Adding a P in the last round is not a bad idea. I've never been sold on Quigley. I haven't checked into punters, so know nothing about Loomis, but will trust your judgment on him. Gunter's a pretty good CB and with the age of the Jets' CBs, that's a nice touch adding a decent to good prospect that late.

Doubt the players fall the way your projecting, but that haul would be worthy of praise.

I was honestly thinking Dorsett with the 38th pick lol

After watching Baylor vs. Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl, I want nothing to do Petty.

To put it another way, the best value in each round...

    1. Fowler or Cooper
    2. Gordon / Coleman RB or Fisher / Clemmings or Green-Beckham / Dorsett / Perriman
    3. Dorsett / D. Smith WR or Ajayi / T. Coleman / D. Johnson RB or B. Petty QB

Very fair criticism. I agree with the OT suggestion. I love Fisher in the 2nd. As for Dorsett, I'm very curious to see how the WR depth plays out. There are a lot of WRs that are in the same tier, and only so many teams that need them. Some are going to be available much later then they should. Great value.

To me, Phillip Dorsett in the fourth is about right for him. I have watched a lot of Miami over the past few years and honestly I liked Travis Benjamin more as a receiver. They are pretty similar player types as well. Benjamin ended up going in the 4th.

I love the Gunter pick. His 40 really nailed him and he's been a very good player in college for years. He plays press very well, plays off well, and even saw significant snaps at safety this year.

I'd definitely have a backup for Fowler, since a lot of people have him going before 6.

I know it's cliche, but it would be hard for me to take the punter in the 7th, especially given how few picks you guys have. There are so few punter jobs that getting good players to come in as free agents for teams that have openings is a pretty easy sell. I'd just look for who I like that may have slipped through the cracks... some possibilities at that point:

    NT Terry Williams, ECU
    NT Caleb Eulls, Miss St

    OLB Jemauria Rasco, LSU
    OLB Kyle Emanuel, NDSU
    OLB Marcus Rush, Michigan St
    OLB Max Valles, Virginia
    OLB Sonny Puletasi, Wyoming

    SS Anthony Jefferson, UCLA
    FS Nick Perry, Alabama

    C Dillon Day, Miss St
    OT Darrian Miller, Kentucky
    OT/OG Jarvis Harrison, Texas A&M
    OG Andre Davis, Buffalo

    ILB Thurston Armbrister, Miami

    TE Westlee Tonga, Utah
    TE Faysal Shafaat, Chattanooga

Overall I think your mock is pretty realistic and decent. I have my own opinion on Petty and the rest of the QB class, and drafting QBs in general, but I definitely understand why you would take a shot there. JMO.

I said the same thing about Mariota after the Utah and Ohio St. game.
