The Jets won today. And what do I see? rjansen disease running rampant. Heck, we won! 6 months ago I would have signed up for 3-3 in a heartbeat. I get here, and all I see are threads about how lucky we were, how the play calling sucks, how Sutton should be fired, how we have the worst D in the NFL... ad nauseum. The defense had a shutout going in the first half. you want to call it luck, or blame it on the other team, they got the turnovers. They drove and scored when they had to. They.... WON. Only Jets fans can win and make it sound like it was a loss. Take a moment.... smell the roses, and stop freakin WHINING! Geeze..... get a grip. For those intelligent Jets fans that post here, and you know who you are... disregard... the rest of you? STFU already. Look at the scoreboard. We aren't a playoff team, so stop thinking that way. The team bounced back from an embarrassing loss.... that is progress. Yes, they did let up at 20-3.... they thought the game was over, and had to get their heads and hearts back into it... and did. Buffalo is 2-4, Miami is 1-5! freakin CELEBRATE already! :drunk:
I know man. All of a sudden the majority thinks they are a playoff team already. This is a good season and 3-3 is an awesome place to be. Hell I thought the Jets were going to have the Dolphins record and they would be at least 4-2. But sadly people keep forgetting, there are still holes to fill. But everything is going well and I am very happy with the 3-3 record so far. Hell they already reached my expected projection for wins. Now I hope they can get to my dream pick. 5
Did you watch the game? We played great to get a 20-3 lead then we did NOTHING on defense and NOTHING on offense for the rest of the game while JOEY HARRINGTON walked downfield on us. It's great to win, of course, but it doesn't bode well for the future. It needs fixed, that's five games in a row we've been unable to get off the field on defense in the 4th quarter.
Knowing the lack of talent we have this year, there was no way I expected 5 out of the first 6 games to be close and entertaining. The expectations of sports fans are ridiculous, you win a few and get the team playing above itself, then suddenly everyone thinks you're a contender. Whining about the 3-4, D'Brick not yet playing at Pro-Bowl level, Secondary is awful, the Run Defense, terrible 4th quarter prevent defense is just nitpicking. Anyone with realistic expectations knew we'd have these problems, now repeat after me, THIS-IS-A-REBUILDING YEAR!!!!!!!
Let the sunshine!! We freakin won..everyone was predicting doom and gloom this year and lets hope we can win 5 games..You can have the guy in KC back if you like??..Jeez we are 2 - 1 in the division and in the race at week 6..what the hell do you want..Yeah we have alot of holes but we knew that going in didn't we??..The coaching staff is figuring out how to win games DISPITE the lack of some quality players at key positions..The glass is half full,,the glass is half full..keep repeating that.
I'm one of the people who isn't satisfied with yesterday. I am not disillusioned and believing we are a playoff team. We don't have it yet. However, yesterday was disgusting. I expected no more than 4 wins this year coming in. However, we are better than we looked before the season started. We've played like a middle-grade team so far. We've beat the truly bad teams, and we played competitively against the playoff contenders (with the exception of Jacksonville.) It's about not finishing. We played better in the first quarter this week. We played to win in the second and third quarters. Then the fourth quarter came around, and we allowed Joey Harrington to play like vintage John Elway. That's bad, really bad. All this prevent defense crap does is prevent us from blowing out a terrible team. No one would have said it before the season started, but we know now that we are much further ahead than Miami right now. Why can't we play like that? NINE MINUTES to score SEVENTEEN points? I expect that from a guy with the last name Manning, not with a guy named Harrington. Again, I'm not unrealistic. I don't believe we are anywhere near a playoff contender. However, we need to beat the snot out of a team like Miami. I expect to be embarassed against Chicago, but we had better beat Green Bay into the dirt. So if this is ridiculous, sorry. Then again, no, I'm not. I don't think it's ridiculous. We are rebuilding, but that doesn't mean we aren't allowed to be competitive. Right now, we aren't. Letting Miami walk all over us in the fourth quarter, simply because we play our CBs 3 yards off their man is inexcusable. I'd rather see Miller getting flagged for being too aggressive than allowing terrible receivers to look like Jerry Rice. And when you switch to a 4-3 late, why aren't you rushing the QB? I understand our 3-man line can't manage the pass rush, but when you put another guy up front, why isn't someone trying to break through? I understand what you are trying to say TBird, but I am not willing to just accept a lack of finishing when a game is totally dominated by our team. Blowing it against Indy hurts, but is acceptable. Allowing Miami to creep back into a game we pounded them in is just hard to accept.
Who is everyone? We are a bad team with a smart veteran QB playing a schedule that allows us to rebuild and have an 8 to 10 win season. I'm dissapointed that the D is in much worse shape than I anticipated. This D is a 2 to 3 year project. To many players who don't belong on the strarting unit.
Lol....you sound like you want more then just 'being competitive'. You wanted to blow the fish out of the water! With expectations like that, you're sure to be disappointed at the ny jets. The 4th quarter was the only quarter i watched, and I for one thought we were going to overtime after switching to that passive defense. That being said, we did what we needed to do in the 1st 3 quarter to 'be competitive'. Its an ugly win, sure, but we were the better team for 4 quarters, and thats all the matters. I will agree that out 4th quarter play leaves something to be desired. I guess thats one of the many things our team (still rebuilding, right?) has to fix.
Lack of talent? We have playoff caliber talent now that e have a healthy Chad and expectations change quickly in the NFL Teams go from good to bad to good again very quickly. last year we expected a playoff season but expectations chnaged quickly to 4-6 wins. this year I expectd 6-7 wins at the start but now I expect 8-9. Things change.
I expected to come into this thread and see you boiling at the fact that Graham's monster of a punt, a 66 yarder, was negated by a penalty.
they didnt let up its that damn prevent defense if they kept playing like they did miami wouldnt of been in that game god i hate the prevent defense
I agree. The most significant and important development is the coaching staff. They have proven to be smart and more than capable (after hearing during the entire offseason that the staff was too young and inexperienced). They are proving to be intelligent, and not affraid to change things up, to take risks, or be creative. They are gaining great experience. Not like Saban's staff with the mirage that was a 6 game winning streak. Not like Saban who got publicity from press conferences and making rookies cry during practice. Mangini and Co. are learning to play with adversity, come back from blowouts, staying competitive in games with playoff teams, and they are showing they can coach up mediocre talent. The schedule allows us to rebuild while having a good record. But even if we don't win another game this year, what this staff has shown should make all fans very happy. Sure they make mistakes, but they learn fast. The future is looking a lot brighter.
